Reviewed Chocolate Chunk Blondies

My husband cannot get enough of these! The recipe is so easy and fast. I make it without the nuts because I'm a cookie/brownie without nuts kinda gal :)""

Reviewed Southern Red Velvet Cake

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

A very tasty and moist cake! After reading the reviews I made a couple of modifications (hence the four stars). I upped the cocoa to 2 tablespoons and used apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar because it's sweeter. Yes the layers are thin but I think it's a good cake to icing ratio.""

Reviewed Thai Cucumber and Radish Salad

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This salad is a really nice compliment to Ellie Krieger's peanut noodles. I find the daikon radish can be a little bitter raw, so I've made it with small red radishes as well. Tasty!""

Reviewed Lasagna

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My friends said this is the best lasagna they've ever had and always ask me to make it. I always use no-boil noodles because I'm lazy :) and it still turns out perfectly! I also use king oyster mushrooms instead of crimini because they're meatier.""

Reviewed Fingerling Potatoes with Aioli

Better than french fries! I didn't have any bread or saffron on hand so I just added a spoonful of dijon mustard to help with the emulsification and flavor. It turned out just perfectly! This did make A LOT - there were four of us snacking and I was still able to snack for two days afterwards.""

Reviewed Sausage Cornbread Stuffing

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was so delicious! Moist and flavorful! For the cornbread, I made three packages of Jiffy cornbread mix the day before and left it out overnight. Perfect!""

Reviewed Keyshawn's Mom's Candied Yams

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Is it bad to say I'm shocked this method worked? Well it not only worked, it worked incredibly well! I used 1 stick of butter (vs 2). And just because I prefer them this way for Thanksgiving, I mashed the yams, placed them in a casserole dish, topped with marshmallows and toasted them. YUM!""

Reviewed Mini Lasagnas with Sweet Corn and Mascarpone

Jul 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this in a 2 quart casserole like a traditional lasagna, with no-cook pasta sheets, cream cheese instead of mascarpone, and non-fat milk instead of heavy cream. Instead of using a food processor (which I don't own, I just mixed everything together in my kitchen aid mixer. The lasagna turned out really great, and everyone commented on how del"

Reviewed Caesar-Roasted Fish

Jan 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a really nice twist on fish - delicious and creamy. I improvised as I did not have parsley or anchovy paste but it still turned out so good! The capers were a nice salty, briney touch at the end. We used sea bass.

Reviewed Lemon and White Chocolate Pots de Creme

Dec 25, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I ran out and got white chocolate and cream as soon as I saw this episode. The pot de cremes are sooooo good. Soooooo rich. Soooo easy! You look like a fancy chef but it takes no time at all, and we were literally licking the ramekins clean.

The next time I made them, I used dark chocolate and instead of zest, added a little vanilla...

Reviewed Salmon and Sweet Potato Cakes with Agrodolce Relish and Arugula

Dec 25, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Love this recipe. The sweet potato really complements and brings out the sweetness of the salmon. The cakes are so moist as well. Wonderful!

Reviewed Honey Ricotta Cheesecake

Dec 25, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is the most delicious cheesecake I've ever made. The texture is rich and creamy but the orange zest and honey really lighten it up.

I think I may have gotten a little water in the crust - likely because I was using a disposal roasting pan with a ridged bottom. Next time, I will likely just put a casserole dish of boiling water...

Reviewed Leeks with Walnut Vinaigrette

Dec 25, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe was OK, but not fantastic. Mainly, I didn't like the texture of the leeks, especially when eaten cold. They were too soft - but of course if you don't cook them through, they would be too sharp.

Reviewed Easy Sticky Buns

Easy and sooooooo delicious! Next time I will put pecans inside the buns and use about half the amount of butter.
