This recipe is delicious, quick and simple and the stew is very versatile. It is great with chicken, as well as fish. It is also wonderful over a bed of spaghetti squash. The stew works beautifully for breakfast, too, by heating it in a frying pan, making small wells in the stew and cooking eggs in it."

I actually made this recipe without any sugar (when doing a Whole Life Challenge) and it was still very good, though it tastes more like Heinz 57 than ketchup. Next time I make it, I think I am going to process dates with the vinegar as a substitute for the brown sugar.

It is definitely labor intensive, so you might consider doubling...
