My Activity

Reviewed Chicken Chili

"Ina, you've put up some good recipies - but this ain't one of 'em ! I just "wasted" 3 onions and 4 bells (not to mention the other spices). This is nothing but tomato sauce with some veggies added.
(my making this was sorta like when I went to Tommy Bahama's - and ordered Ribs ! - Big mistake.

Glad I didn't put the chicken in - will use th"

Reviewed Spinach and Bacon Quiche

""tasty", yes..but..6 eggs and 1 1/2 cups of cream is WAY TOO MUCH. I cut to 4 eggs and 1 cup of cream = better/correct amount of liquid. also, I had to increase the oven time TWICE (covering with foil after the first time, so as not to burn)

do these folks even try their recipes before presenting ? "

Reviewed Shrimp and Avocado Salad with Frico Chips

"liked the recipe but IF I make again I'll not use Zucchini, it made the rest "slimy".....wondering how seeded Cucumber or Grilled Pineapple would be as a substitute ?

the dressing recipe is really nice - have a couple of other recipes that it'll go with nicely"

Reviewed Chicken Adobo

"I found the results to be, well, blah. Not familiar with this Filipino dish so perhaps it's just this recipe. Won't make it again.

Also made the Scallion & Mozzarella Cornbread (from the same show. It was "OK".. I found that the Cheese gave a texture making one think that the Cornbread wasn't fully cooked. The stuffed Green Olives within w"

Reviewed Baked Beans

"Yikes - waaaaay tooooo SWEET. I tried adding some of my Chipotle/Adobo/Olive Oil (blended) paste just to give it some flavour other than SUGAR - didn't help - I'll stick to my own recipe, thank you very much !""

Reviewed Zach's Alotta Southwestern Enchiladas

"I made this exactly as per the recipe and I've gotta say these are the most terrible Enchiladas I've EVER tasted - I ate one and then a second - just to see if my 1st impression was correct

I then threw into the garbage the remaining 22

The worst Mexican food I've had in all my 73 years was much better than this garbage""

Reviewed Shaggy Man Split Pea Soup

"the flavour was good but with the Butter, Bacon & Sausage there was entirely too much "grease" ! I also used the recommended 2 qts of Chix Broth but found that made for too much "liquid" - I drove to the market and got another lb of Peas (which I cooked in some Beef Broth) and added to the soup. I prefer to make my pea/bean soups by blending 1/2 the peas/beans (in a blender) and leaving the other half whole, which gives the soup some texture and at the same time some thickness - the 2nd lb of Peas accomplished that.

will keep this recipe but will cut down on the greases and liquids"
