Reviewed three bean and beef chili

I loved the taste of the chipotle pepper and will bump it up to 2 next time. I added a 15 oz can of tomatoe sauce instead of water and also increased cumin to 1 tablesppon. terrific!

This recipe was not good. After an hour they were still not cooked and the nutmeg ruined the cinnamon flavor. Also the apple juice was a waste. It did not add any flavor nor make a nice syrup. I will revert to my favorite foolproof method of pan frying apple slices in butter and sugar with a bit of cinnamon. Now those are perfect and done in less...

I added some dijon mustard just prior to serving ( about 1 Tablespoon) This really made the difference. The reason it may have been a little lacking in depth of flavor prior to adding the dijon may have been that I only had beef broth, not beef stock or bouillon to add. It was delicious and very filling. I will be making this again!

Reviewed Simple, Perfect Chili

Jan 19, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great base recipe for Chile. I followed other reviewers advise and doubtled the spices as well as added a can of diced tomatoes. I did not have any masa so I used 2 TBSP cornmeal and 2TBSP flour mixed with a little water for a thickener and it added a wonderful flavor and consistency . I also added a full cup of addtional water with the tomatoe"

This is the best hollandaise sauce I have ever made! I added the lemon juice at the end to taste so that I could assure it was not too lemony. I think I added only about 3 teaspoons of lemon juice. It was perfect. I will make this again and again. Thanks Alton. I enjoy watching you on Food Network and loved that Justin won this years Food netwo"

Amazing! Perfect cobbler recipe. This will be the go to cobbler recipe for me from now on."

Reviewed American Macaroni Salad

Jun 24, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was very good. I doubled the sauce and kept about 1/3 of it in the fridge for the leftovers as it will dry some. I needed to add more seasonings to give it a kick. The addition of sour cream to the traditional mayo sauce really makes this a keeper."

This was very good. I felt I needed to add more seasonings and next time I will increase the amount of sauce as it was a little too dry. This may be becuase I did not have a tomatoe on hand as the recipe called for. The addition of sour cream to the traditional mayo sauce really makes this a keeper."

Reviewed Cranberry Orange Scones

Jun 1, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent recipe. Moist and tender . Scones are tradionally not too sweet so if you like them sweeter , than follow others advise and double the sugar. Too bad some of those that rated this less than 5 stars for that reason don't know what a scone really is! Great recipe Ina!"

Reviewed Shortbread Cookies

These were the best cookies ever! I made Christmas cookies with half and the other half I rolled into a log and made round cookies as suggested by others in the reviews. You can also roll the log in red or green colored sugar before you slice them to make a lovely round decorative cookie. These would be excellent iced as well.""

Reviewed Texas Oven-Roasted Beef Brisket

Jul 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent Recipe. I followed others advise and cut the salt back to 1 Tablespoon. I did not add the bay leaf as I find that an overpowering flavor that does not mix well with Spicy seasonings. The results were amazing. The Brisket was moist and flavoful and the drippings were a great Au Jus. The leftovers make great BBQ sandwichs if you re-heat"
