Reviewed All American Beef Taco
"As is, a tablespoon of salt is way too much for only a pound of ground beef. If you omit the 2 teaspoons in the Taco Potion and just put in the 1 teaspoon in the beef when you cook it, this is actually a very good recipe. I can't believe this recipe was intended to have that much salt. I know Alton is not afraid of salt in food, but this seems "
Reviewed Overnight Cinnamon Rolls
"These were fantastic. I would not expect to be able to buy better cinnamon rolls. Not much else to say. The technique wasn't that complicated and everything just seemed to work right.""
Reviewed Dill Pickles
"Really good pickles. I let them go for 2 1/2 to 3 weeks in the crock, and they were really good and sour. The aroma coming from the crock after the first week made it hard to not eat one then and there.
I used bottled spring water which seemed easiest. I never noticed bubbles forming, and there was hardly any scum to speak of until after 2 wee""
Reviewed Grilled Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana
"This is a quick and easy recipe, and it doesn't require too many ingredients. It is essential to get the smoked mozzarella and fresh basil, without those, the recipe wouldn't be the same. The flavor is still a bit simple, but not bad for a quick weeknight meal. Unlike many of the 30 minute meals, this one really does take less 30 minutes start ""
Reviewed Grilled Pizza -Three Ways
"I have historically not had much success with making pizza. This was not one of those times. I made the prosciutto and date pizza, mostly because my wife didn't want to try that one. The combination of sweet and salty was fantastic, and the thyme (I was a little worried it would be weird) was a wonderfully surprising accent to an already great "
Reviewed Chicken "Saltimbocca": Saltimbocca di Pollo
"Very good dish. I halved the recipe as far as the meat goes because it was just my wife and me, but I left the sauce the same. I think it may have been too little sauce otherwise. I'm normally not a mushroom fan, but the oyster mushrooms were terrific with the shallots and the sauce. Overall, it was delicious, and I made a side of bow-tie pasta to go with it."
Reviewed Corned Beef and Cabbage
"This is a really good corned beef recipe. The corned beef was almost falling apart, and the vegetables great. The exception was that the potatoes (left whole) were not done. The carrots, parsnips, and cabbage were all terrific.
The most difficult part came when I had to take the cabbage out and slice it. I was in a hurry, so it was still pretty hot. Also, it was very slippery (fat from the corned beef?) and was difficult to hold and get it sliced nicely. I'm sure I didn't get enough water off of it before adding it to the onions, but it turned out great anyway."
Reviewed Pressure Cooker Chili
"Really good chili. I made this recipe several times in the slow cooker on low for 4 to 5 hours, and it was great. Then I got a pressure cooker. This not only save me 3.5 to 4.5 hours, the result was a lot more moist and flavorful. I've found 2 chipotle peppers to be a bit on the mild/medium side. Use 4 or 5 peppers for some good heat. Also, 2 pounds of stew beef (beef round) and 1 pound of pork rib meat is the best combination. This is a meat lovers chili for sure. I haven't experimented with adding beans, but I've encountered people who enjoy chili with more beans and/or water.
