Reviewed Spaghetti alla Carbonara
"Anne made this look so easy on the video and on tv. I followed the recipe carefully, however I think I didn't stir quickly enough, so it looked kind of like scrambled eggs. I blame it totallly on me, not the recipe. I ate it but it just did'n
t have that creamy texture. I may try it again sometime.""
Reviewed Citrus Chicken
"I made the mistake of adding chicken breasts with the thighs, forgetting that dark meat takes longer to cook, so my breasts were dry, thighs were great! I also should have made the glaze earlier, it was too hot and hadn't thickened up, so after simmering for 15 minutes, take it off the heat and let it sit. I ended up putting the chicken under the broiler for about 10 minutes to brown. I will make it again, but separate the breasts and cook less. Half my family likes white, half dark meat."
Reviewed Rice Pilaf Garden Style
"I really wanted to like this and I did, partly. I followed the recipe exactly. I was concerned from the start that it only called for 3 cups of broth for the amount of rice and orzo. Sure enough after the 14 minutes I checked and all the liquid was gone, it was starting to burn at the bottom and the rice wasn't done. I thought maybe the zucchini would add the needed fluid, but didn't. I added the rest of the 32 oz of broth I had and another 1/2 cup water, cooked it for another 10 minutes.I was surprised it needed more salt with all that broth. It was very bland. I love pilaf, and it was healthier than my mom's recipe which calls for a lot more butter. The mushrooms add a woodsy flavor. I will try it again, but with more butter and remember to add more fluid.

Reviewed Old-Fashioned Cupcakes
"This is the second time I made this.I took others advice and only used 1 1/2 cups sugar. I got a little confused about adding the butter to the flour mixture and it said to mix until just coated. I then added the other ingredients and of course the batter had lumps of butter in it. I didn't want to over beat so I left the lumps there. Anyone else experience this, do you think this was intended? Anyway, I like the vanilla taste of these, though mine had the texture of a muffin. The frosting was just okay, I halved the recipe and am glad I did. The halved recipe frosted 24 cup cakes which is how many I made.I always add a pinch of salt to decrease the sweetness of icing. They piped well and I used a 1M tip to decorate.
Reviewed Macaroni and Cheese
"This was delicious! I didn't add the bacon or potato chips, because it was fattening enough as it was. I also added a cup of gruyere cheese and the rest cheddar. It is the best comfort food!
Reviewed Momma Callie's Banana Nut Bread with Honey Butter
"I have been making my mom's Banana Bread for years now and thought it was good, until I tried this recipe. This is the best banana bread I have ever had! It is very moist, and has a rich butter flavor. The sour cream is the key. I didn't add nuts because I made it for a party and I find that a lot of people don't like nuts. I made a regular loaf pan size and a mini loaf pan because there was a lot of batter. It wasn't enough for 2 regular loaf pans. This is a keeper!
Reviewed Southern Tea Cakes
"I was a little disappointed on how these turned out. I used a small round cookie cutter, and they spread out and flattened out as they cooled. I chilled the dough over night. I also added about 1/2 tsp of grated nutmeg and was glad I did. The nutmeg really gave them good flavor. I made these for special occasion and they didn't look appetizing.
