Reviewed Homemade Gravy

Nov 24, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This is a perfect recipe, you can also saute some mushrooms in with the onions and it gives a fabulous earthy flavor, and even add a clove of garlic, sliced into three peices, and then remove those before you add in the stock - that way you get the garlic flavoring releasing in the saute, but not a huge amount in the final gravy. If you don't have...

Here's the answer everyone: This is a huge batch of batter so the sugar needs to increase by half a cup, and they come out perfectly sweet but not too sweet. Also, you need to add two teaspoons of quality vanilla extract. After both of those additions, the recipe is SUBLIME!! And do NOT skip the lemon zest... it's a perfect compliment and does not"

Good recipe. It needs more seasoning which can be fixed easily, but kidney beans are so gross in this, and in everything. Use white beans and it becomes a decadent meal."

Reviewed Parmesan Chicken

This is Perfect. Really. Perfection. You have to change nothing at all with this recipe. The trick with the chicken is to fry it on just-under-medium heat, like medium-low, so it doesn't burn the outside while your waiting for the interior to cook through. It is the perfect way to make this. I have seen Parmesan encrusted chicken breasts done"

Like another reviewer wrote here. Add one or two jalapenos, seeds removed and diced, and then omit the hot sauce; then and some chopped cilantro and it's perfect. In California we need it a little more authentic and flavorful. Good base recipe though."

Great biscuits!!!! Too much for my large food processor to handle so I had to take it out and mix it by hand. It worked out fine, just don't over mix or over kneed!""

Reviewed 6 Hour Tri-tip Marinade

Aug 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was a good marinade and made the meat very tender, which is crucial with a tri-tip, as they tend to be chewy and tough. But after reading all the reviews I expected a phenomenal marinade. It was good, not phenomenal. The problem was that it was a bit on the sweet side, which was surprising. I followed the recipe to a T, no substitutions....

Great recipe. Add a little flavor by adding more herbs and spices, And if you don't like kidney beans... add white beans instead, right from the can but drain and rinse first. White beans make this dish amazing!"

The whole point of this recipe was that Ina made them with a spoon of instant coffee mixed into the batter. She had a whole episode on her show about this -- how the coffee totally changed the taste for the better, so why it was omitted from this web printed version is a mystery. "

Reviewed Green Salad with Creamy Mustard Vinaigrette

May 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great, but it needs just a little more vinegar, or add in a bit of fresh lemon juice, or both... as the tang was too mild. Also, use a tablespoon of mayo if you don't want to use a raw egg. It'll give it a creamy texture. Very good!"

Reviewed Roasted Asparagus

Apr 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

In her original recipe she sprinkles grated parmeson cheese over the spears right at the end, and puts them back in the oven for a minute or two to let it melt. Why is that part missing from this web version?? Be sure to do this. Don't use the ordinary kind in a grren can tho - get the fresh, good quality parmesan -- The parmesan makes it!!!!"
