Reviewed baked french toast casserole with maple syrup

Apr 6, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was excellent the first time I made it exactly as written. The second time I made it with torn up croissants and added 1 teaspoon of maple extract and 1/2 teaspoon cardamon. OH MAN! It was so decadent with the praline topping. It's my absolute go to when I have overnight guests or if I bring something to a pot luck brunch.

Reviewed Cranberry Jelly in a Mold

Mar 27, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this in a shallow rectangle pan then cut it in one inch squares. The gelatin consistency made it perfect for the filling of a candy that I was looking for. I dipped it in dark chocolate and sprinkled it with dried cranberries soaked in brandy. It set beautifully for a perfect confection. Very easy and impressive.

Mar 17, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I really liked the egg/milk/flour ratio and the technique is spot on. I love cheese puffs and this is a good one. That being said, they were a little bland. The 1/8 teaspoon seasoning is not enough for my taste. The next time I make these (and there will definitely be a next time), I'm going to use a full teaspoon of the seasoning blend and a...

Simple and amazing...my favorite combination. So so good. Try it as your bchamel base for mac and cheese, as well. I've made it with cheddar and thats great too. I agree with the other reviewers, cook the flour/butter until slightly browned it gives you a nice nutty taste and no flour flavor.

Reviewed braised chicken thighs with button mushrooms

Feb 13, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this with boneless skinless thighs. It was so easy and delicious, the thighs become fork tender. Just perfect for an evening when you don't want to work fuss in the kitchen but want to serve your family a great meal.

Reviewed Dungeness Crab Bisque

Jan 4, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I can't fully express how impressed I am with this recipe. I had quite a few people over for a Dungeness crab feast. There is nothing like cooking them live and serving them slightly warm. I over bought so I had quite a bit of crab meat left. I used the shells and tips to make the broth. I followed the recipe and then threw in the crab meat at...

Reviewed Chinese Chicken Salad with Red Chile Peanut Dressing

Dec 8, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I've been looking for a recipe that tastes like a Chinese Chicken Salad that a local restaurant makes. So many out there are overly wet or sweet. This one has just the right amount of crunch from the napa cabbage and I substituted thinly sliced iceberg lettuce for the romaine...that's the lettuce that the restaurant uses. I poached two chicken...

Reviewed Perfect Roast Turkey

Nov 28, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

So many recipes call for brining and I'm not fond of the texture of the meat after bringing so I was looking for a traditional recipe. This one is wonderful. The aromatics inside the turkey kept it moist and added a lovely complexity to the taste. After the turkey was carved, I tossed the bones, skin, aromatics and some veggie and herbs in to a...

Reviewed Emeril's Hawaiian Vintage Chocolate Pie

Nov 24, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

The chocolate filling was amazing. I substituted 60% chocolate as recommended by a reviewer. I was concerned about the comments on the crust and I prefer a shortbread cookie crust so I made that change, as well.

Reviewed Guiltless Cheesy Mac

Nov 16, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This was a wonderful healthier version. I pureed the cauliflower to give it a creamier texture and hide it from the veggie haters (for this reason...no peas). I cheated a little and added 3 oz of soft goat cheese and a little more cheddar than called for. Based on previous reviewers comments on dryness, I didn't add the parmesan to the casserole...

Reviewed Parmesan Crisps

Oct 13, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Perfect low carb accompaniment to the soup I had prepared for dinner. My husband is on a low carb diet and misses the chips, crackers and other crispy salty treats. He was sooo happy! We always have cheese in the fridge so I tried it with cheddar. It got crispy around the edges but stayed a little softer in the middle. It was still really good....

Oct 12, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this exactly as written but we found the texture of the bacon in the ice cream a little off putting. Chewing bacon after the ice cream was swallowed. These are so good!!! The subtle spice flavor isn't over powering and the texture is perfect. I made mini cookie sandwiches with home made maple ice cream (Claire Robinson's recipe minus the bacon) and rolled the sides in crushed Heath Bars. Crazy good.

Just a beautifully balance salad both texturally and taste wise. I love Ina's roasted beets with fresh thyme, olive oil and vinegar so I roasted them in the foil with those ingredients. I used hazelnuts because I had them on hand. "

Reviewed Black Pepper Mango Sorbet

Aug 24, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This has spot on proportions, not too sweet, just a hint of heat, a brightness that the lime juice adds. So, GOOD! I didn't add the oil because I found the infused vodka had the right amount of heat for my taste. I macerated the mangos in vodka, as well. Then used the fruit for sorbet and the infused vodka for cocktails. It was the hit of the B"

What can I say that all others haven't? It's easy and delicious. Like some others, I put a teaspoon of sugar in the sauce while it's reducing. For the people who found it bland, I suggest tasting it throughout the cooking time and adding more salt, pepper and oregano as needed to your taste. "

Reviewed Caramel Croissant Pudding

Jul 6, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very easy to make. Don't stir the sugar mixture or you'll crystalize your sugar and add a teaspoon of lemon (or vinegar or cream of tarter) and that will prevent sugar crystallization on the side of the pan. I prefer my bread pudding less eggy so I doubled the recipe but kept the eggs to just 2. Don't forget to temper the eggs so you don't get sc"

What can I say other than the rave reviews that came before me?! It tasted amazing and set up beautifully. The candy thermometer made it a breeze because it did take quite a bit longer than the estimated time to reach 220 degrees. So good and really easy. I'm going to try other fruit variations. "

Reviewed Crunchy Parmesan Chicken Tenders

Mar 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I kicked up the seasoning a bit. Added tabasco sauce to the buttermilk (not enough to make it too spicy hot-just a small hint of back heat). Baked them on a rack, that way you get circular heat in the oven and avoid the sticking or mushy effect. It's a good basic recipe for a healthy version of crispy chicken tenders. "
