Reviewed New Classic Meatloaf

Jan 30, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I am a meatloaf lover, but this was not something I will make again. I followed the recipe, and it was moist enough, but I just didn't like the flavor. I'll stick to my turkey veggie meatloaf, it blows this one out of the water."

Reviewed Baked Green Tomatoes and Zucchini

Jan 30, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I had such high hopes for this recipe, but noooooo - it was edible, but never again. I will say that due to the time of the year (?) I couldn't find green tomatoes so I just cooked the zucchini. It was dry and would only scortch in the skillet. After baking it was the right texture, but the breading just didn't work out. I can assume that the "

Reviewed Spicy Sweet Potato Chips

Guys, these were great! I did read the reviews, cut the cayenne in half and they were perfect. I love spicy, but really you just don't need that much. A great side to my lean burgers!"

Reviewed Chicken Parmesan

Jan 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Very good! I didn't change a thing. It was very filling. I added a small side of spaghetti, so simple and quick!"

Reviewed Tomato Tarts

I thought these were great! I couldn't find fresh thyme so sprinkled some on from my spice cabinet. Next time I will go easier on the salt - but hear me, there will be a next time!! If you entertain, these will be a hit!"

Reviewed Hot and Spicy Hush Puppies

Nov 4, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Loved it, loved it, loved it! Only change I made was to use the whole jalepeno instead of 1/2. Still not too spicy. This is my only recipe I will use for hush puppies ever again!"

Reviewed Greek Noodle Casserole (Pastitsio

Oct 21, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was easy and very good. The spices were very strong, and although my family ate it, they were a little bit "eh, it's different". The cheese sauce is amazing. (And by the way, it didn't call for mascarpone as the review below mentioned, strange). Anyway, I recommend you try it, I liked it - but probably won't make it again."

Reviewed Chicken and Biscuits

Jul 17, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Excellent! I didn't read the recipe, just watched the show - so I had added 2 T flour, and I did turn the heat back up to medium high for the last 10 minutes. I also used all chicken stock, no water. This was fantastic, the meat just fell of the bones! I used all chicken thighs, %5.47 for 2 lbs. The biscuits were also perfect for this meal....

Reviewed Confetti Rice

May 11, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I'm rating this a 4 star instead of 3 because I used white rice instead of the recommended rice. I just didn't have any flavor, and I had added an extra lime's juice. It was a beautiful dish though..."

Reviewed Chicken Suizas Quesadilla Cakes

May 11, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was great! The chicken and sauce in the recipe is packed with flavor! I wanted to take a load off after work, so I prepared the veggies and roasted them rather than grilling them, about 375 for 30 minutes then on broil for about 3-4 minutes to finish them up. I substitued Greek yogurt for the sour crean (while my husband was freaking out),"

Reviewed Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy

Mar 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Very good, and my family loved it. Had a little trouble with sticking and the breading coming off the steak, and definitely cooked longer than 2 minutes per side. Next time I will use a non-stick skillet, and don't expect to have that problem. Should have cut the flour and egg mixture in half as other viewers recommended, I hate waste!""

Reviewed Roast Chicken Enchilada Suizas Stacked Casserole

Feb 21, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Very yummy! I cut the recipe in half and used an 8x8 casserole dish and had plenty for dinner and lunch the following day. The tomatilla sauce was so fresh it absolutely made the dish. I also used canned chicken since I was preparing this after work, and can only imagine how delish it would be with a home roasted chicken!""

Reviewed Chocolate Margarita

Apr 10, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Choco-yummy!! I halved the recipe since my hubby prefers his margarita without chocolate overtones and it is absolutely fabulous!! I saw the episode and really thought she added vanilla extract rather than almond extract, so after the comments I read I decided to stick with the vanilla. Perfect. No kidding! And I'm surprised I can still type...

Reviewed Vegetable Meatloaf with Balsamic Glaze

Apr 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Moist and delicious! This was a very simple recipe, that turned out absolutely amazing. I added some chopped onion while sauteing the veggies, but I'm sure it would be great without. I did as one rater suggested and put a little more sauce on top about 1/2-3/4 of the way through the cooking time. I also only used 1.25 lbs of turkey, I can get...

Reviewed Lobster Pot Pie

Feb 5, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Rich and delicious! This was my first meal with lobster, cooked 3 lobster tails and probably should have used four. Like another reviewer this seemed like a LOT of onion, so I left out the pearl onions - and I didn't miss them at all. I used 8 oz clam juice I had on hand, and used 8 oz of my lobster cooking water. I don't think that extra 1/2...

Reviewed Caesar-Roasted Fish

Jan 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My husband saw this episode and requested this dish, and it was delish! I couldn't find striped bass at the grocery, so I subbed tilapia instead - and it worked wonderfully! A little salty, from the dressing and the capers, but it wasn't overpowering at all. I served this with one of my earlier faves from Ina - Roasted Parmesan Broccoli - the lemony...

Reviewed Seafood Pot Pie

Jan 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Very good!! I only used shrimp and crabmeat, and it was fabulous! The instructions aren't clear on what to do with the 3T of melted butter... so it worked wonderfully poured over the pot pies when removed from the oven. Mmmmmmmm!

Reviewed Baked Penne with Roasted Vegetables

Jan 4, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Perfect. Very versitile and delish! I used regular Italian seasoning and green instead of red peppers.... I'll spend the money for the cheese - it can really make a difference, but $2 for a red pepper vs. $.64 for a green one... not when they taste the same. This dish couldn't be easier to prepare, I'll say it again - Perfect!!

Reviewed Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed Killer Baja Chili Rellenos Mariscos (Roasted Poblano Chiles Stuffed with Seafood and Rice

Dec 26, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This had exactly the right amount of heat! I made two substitutions... brown rice and panela cheese. The cheese worked fine, but stick with the white rice. Trust me - even after 45 minutes of cooking the rice was still chewy. I did melt the monterey jack cheese on top and coupled with some chips and homemade guacamole - for an excellent meal!...

Reviewed Black Beans and Rice

MMMMM, what a hearty filling meal! This was so yummy! I used dried beans, 1/2 water and 1/2 vegetable stock, and added 3 serrano peppers when I mixed the beans and tomatoes into the vegetables, and some cilantro just before serving. Very flavorful, will definitely make this one again!!

Reviewed Garden Vegetable Soup

Oct 17, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

I'll be honest, I've never been a huge vegetable soup fan - so I tried this out for my husband's sake. Being a vegan, I used vegetable stock, and added a jalepeno and some whole wheat croutons. This was an absolute delight! I feel healthier already!
