Reviewed Grandma's Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie
"Mmmm....thanks for the tips everyone. I read them all. I too used a store bought crust for this. The flavor was divine--the subtle use of spices and the dots of butter account for this I think, plus I also used fresh organic strawberies and organic sugar. Reviewed Grandmother Paula's Red Velvet Cake
"A true velvet marvel! I made this for my neice's 6th birthday based on the rave reviews below. There is no substitute for a recipe blog! I followed the cake recipe to the letter and was rewarded with a moist texture like no other cake. Must be the curious little concoction of vinegar and soda you throw in at the end! Yes I too substituted the fluff for marshamallow and pulled it out before the toothpick was totally clean like Alicia from WA said--bingo!. Make sure you grease AND flour pans... I also failed to read the ounces on my food coloring and added only 1 oz of red, when it called for two so not as excitingly and dangerously red as yours Laura. it was still pretty red though.... The ONLY thing I might switch is the cream cheese frosting, somehow I felt the tang of it distracted from the incredible cake underneath. Cheryl from AL you mentioned a scalded milk recipe? Got a copy somewhere?:
