Reviewed Massaged Kale Salad

Apr 10, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I never knew kale could taste this good. I'm allergic to mangoes so I used strawberries instead which really complimented the salad. I used toasted sliced almonds too. My in laws raved about it and this will definitely be a staple in our household and at potlucks!"

Reviewed Penne with Shrimp and Herbed Cream Sauce

Nov 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My husband loved this and he's hard to please! As the previous reviewer said, shrimp broth works really well, which is what I did too. Added such a great seafood flavor. The sauce does come out a bit thin, but we just spooned it up because it was so delicious. I have to say all the Giada recipes I've tried so far have been spot on - especially her"

Love it! I served it tonight for 7 people and it was a hit. There were a TON of leftovers though as it makes a lot! I prepped and chopped the veggies the night before so making it the next day was a cinch! Roasting the veggies beforehand adds a great robust flavor to the dish. I think I baked it too long though as it was a bit dry, but that was pr"

Simply amazing. The shrimp pairs perfectly with this dish and the basil adds a nice touch. I used cream instead of milk to make it richer and I think it really makes a difference. I also used penne pasta so we would get more of the sauce. I have to admit every Giada dish I tried is a hit. My husband asked for seconds - a very rare occurence!"

Reviewed Mushroom and Pecorino Salad

Sep 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I was initially skeptical after reading the reviews, but oh my goodness, on the first bite, the flavors just sang in my mouth! The cheese is the key ingredient in this dish. Also, you have to coat the celery and mushrooms well and make sure they are well seasoned. Such a nice change from our usual green salad. Will definitely make it again!"

Reviewed Lemon Spaghetti

Mar 26, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Nice, light dish. I added shrimp and parsley instead of basil and it turned out well. I used angel hair pasta too. I cut the amount of lemon because I found it too overpowering. All in all, a quick and easy dish that tastes great!""

Reviewed Warm Vegetable Salad

Mar 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I loved this! I didn't have red peppers, so I used tomatoes instead. I agree with some of the other reviewers that just one garlic clove is enough. I also cut down on the amount of oil, oregano and parsley. Its a perfect side dish with salmon and it looks so pretty. My husband really liked it and it was so good we ended up eating the entire bowl!...

YUM!!!! My husband and I are ice cream addicts and after making this I don't think we'll be buying Ben & Jerry's chocolate ice cream anymore! Its so easy to make and just as good. I used half water and half cream to get that gelato texture and instead of sugar, I used 3/4 cup of organic honey (much better for you!) I didn't bother with the coffee...

Both my husband and I really liked it. I think it could've used even more cream cheese. It was a perfect combination of flavors. This will become a staple at my house!""

Mar 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was amazing!!! My husband loved it and said it was better then the one he had at a restaurant. Its great to serve to guests because it seriously makes a ton. The lemon zest is pure genius - really adds a bright flavor to the heavy dish so please do NOT omit it. I added some mushrooms as well. It was so easy to make and I'm definitely adding ...

This was amazing! One of the best meals I've had! I didn't have any cognac, but it was still great and the butter/flour toned down the acidic taste of the tomatoes. I chopped all the veggies the night before so making it the next day was a snap. I served it with baked potatoes and it made a very comforting winter meal. It made ton of leftovers so...

Reviewed Perfect Roast Chicken

Nov 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was the most delicious, flavorful, moist chicken I've had. The chicken made a wonderful sauce which we poured over our rice. The lemon and garlic and thyme was the perfect combination. I kept going back for seconds and thirds! Definitely will make again.""

Reviewed Portobello Mushroom Lasagna

Nov 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This takes a bit of prep work, but it was worth it because my husband and I loved it. Its very rich, so just bear that in mind, but overall, so delicious and comforting on a cold night. The white sauce would be great over any noodles. I didn't have portobello mushrooms, so I used cremini mushrooms instead and they worked perfectly. I also added s...

Yum! I love it! The orange flavor is really great in this dish and its pretty potent so make sure you like orange! I think this dish would taste better cold. I had it with a croissant for a nice light dinner. The problem is, is that it doesn't make enough!""

Reviewed Greek Lamb with Yogurt Mint Sauce

This was very good. I made everything the night before, including the noodles (I used angel hair. I cut the oil down to half a cup. Just before dinner, I mixed it all together. I think making it all the night before really helps because the noodles were not oily at all. I guess the sauce had time to set in the fridge. I added shredded carrots whi...

This knocked our socks off. It was so creamy and delicious. I halved the recipe as its just me and my husband. I personally love onions so having a lot of onions in this dish is good for me (I used Spanish onions). I didn't have any nutmeg, so I just used paprika, which worked fine. Don't bother heating the milk when you whisk it in. Why wash ano...

My husband and I loved it. The only problem was that it turned out salty, but that was my fault. I made it in the morning, refrigerated it, then reheated at dinnertime. I wanted to do this to test it out to see if its a truly good "make ahead" dish for when guests come over. It did not disappoint! It was so easy to make, the flavors blended throu...

OMG! These were so good! I used plain and sweet potatoes instead of beets and fried them in beef tallow which gave it an amazing flavor! The rosemary adds a nice touch. I'll definitely make these again!!!
