Reviewed Chocolate and Coffee Yule Log
"Someone mentioned what to do with the kahlua liquor. That is part of the simple syrup used to brush the Yule Log with after unrolling it and before adding the filling. The simple syrup recipe could be cut in half with more than enough to brush on. The same goes for the ganache recipe. cut it in half if you really want to make this.... Yuk!
Reviewed Chocolate and Coffee Yule Log
"This recipe is the absolute worst. After just over three hours working at a modest pace this thing was completed. First, no cornstarch added to the recipe means the Yule Log will not roll to shape nicely. The filling was horrific. YOU ARE EATING BUTTER! Butter, egg whites, and sugar with flavoring. Heart attack waiting to happen. When you prepare the ganache, the dark chocolate should be soften in a microwave first then add the hot cream and rest of ingredients. You do not need to butter the entire cooking pan for the cake part of the Yule Log. Just the sides and make sure the parchment paper is down as directed. The filling, you can taste the unsalted butter camouflaged with coffee flavoring. The cake itself was nothing to write home about and the dark chocolate had a bitter overtone to it. If this product were served to me at a restaurant, I would have returned it. I agree that the recipe should be the same as aired on the episode. 1000 character limit. I could do 5 pages.
