Reviewed Sour Cream Cheesecake

"This was my very first experience making cheesecake. Regarding the graham cracker crust, I only used 9 graham crackers and cut the melted butter to 2 tablespoons, which made a nice bottom crust. Instead of regular cream cheese, I used Neufchatel cheese and light sour cream instead of regular. Otherwise, I went by the directions. I made this for my"

Reviewed Orange Yogurt Cake

"Wanted to make clementine mini-cupcakes, but couldn't find a recipe for it. Found Aunt Cookie's recipe and decided to try it, adapting it to what ingredients I had on hand anddidn't want to make the whole recipe . Here's my version. 1 1/4 cups self-rising flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter, juice from 2 clementines, as well as the ..."

Reviewed Spinach Salad with Orange Vinaigrette

"Made this recipe yesterday, went by the measurements, except after reading the previous reviews, used only one-half cup evoo and only used 1/4 tsp salt/pepper. Made a salad w/lettuce, herb goat cheese, clementines, carrots, cukes, pecans and croutons. The dressing was divine on it. Yummy!!!"

Reviewed Shrimp and Crab Au Gratin

"I made this today for lunch with some modifications. Didn't have shrimp, used 6 oz. canned crab meat (first time trying that). Minced a little celery, put some fontina cheese in the white sauce as well as thinly slicing some and put on top of seasoned panko bread crumbs sprinkled over the top. Used skim milk for the white sauce, don't use whole mi"

Reviewed Mw Peanut Butter Fudge

"I was looking for a pb fudge recipe that was easy, but didn't have a ton of calories. Add to that, my husband, whom I dearly love, he's SO PICKY. What a wonderful recipe you posted Laravenscroft. I tried it before he got home from work and when he tried he KEPT eating till he made himself stop. Thanks so much. Will definitely make this again!"

Reviewed Jade's Strawberry-Filled Cupcakes

"Light delicious cupcake. Instead of strawberry jelly, I used plum and apple cinnamon, six of each. I eliminated the frosting, which I never missed. The only complaint is I made 12, but should have filled them less and made a few more, as the cupcakes were overfilled. But all in all, it was delish and I'll probably make it again."

New Topic "bread flour" in Cooking Q & A

"I've been using a breadmachine for years and have always used bread flour. But now that I'm married, I'm making bread more often and need to buy bread flour in bulk.

I've only found "bread flour" in bulk once. My question is "bread flour" the same as "high gluten" flour? Thanks for your help re: this matter. Have a great day."

About Me

My Mother taught me to cook when I was a little girl and I still enjoy it today as a grown woman. I cook from scratch which is more time-consuming, but worth it. I love to make up my own recipes and put unusual twists on traditional favorites. I love to bake, especially cookies of all types.

Favorite Foods

I love to cook so many different dishes, it's hard to name just one. For example, loads of different casserole dishes, slow-cooked beef stew, anything w/pesto in it. My dish I'm famous for has to be my meatloaf. I'm sure you're thinking how BORING. But suffice it to say, mine isn't the typical meatloaf in any way. In fact, the 1st time my Step-Dad tried it, he hated meatloaf, but after trying mine he's a fan!

My favorite restaurant is Italian, followed closely by Japanese.
