My Activity

Reviewed Crepes

"Pretty easy recipe. But I'd argue that both the sweet and savory versions need a pinch of salt. Satisfied my craving though, so worked out well. ""

Reviewed Grilled Chicken with Arugula Pesto

"Hmmm, yummy!!! I loved this dish. Very easy to make, lots of flavour, and pretty healthy. And the combo of this chicken and the Caesar Pasta was great. A definite keeper in the quick weeknight arsenal.

Reviewed Caesar Spaghetti

"I caught the very last bit of this episode, and those 10 seconds made me want this dish. I went through a good bit of trouble looking it up, but boy was it worth it (i had DVRed Good Eats with 10 seconds of RR at the begining back in December 2010. The pasta was very easy, very quick and absolutely delicious. The flavours come together very well, and while i dont think it tastes like Caesar Salad, it does taste great. As with any pasta, the key it to sufficiently salt the water. You wont be sorry you made this. Can't wait for the leftovers, and then to make it again and again.

Reviewed Gorgonzola and Porcini Mushroom Risotto

"My fisrt time making Risotto, and this a great start. I halved the recipe, as i was cooking for one, and it worked out very well. I used fresh regular mushrooms, which i sauteed ahead of time. This was a great combo, and an easy adjustable recipe. Not sure why anyone would find it inedible.

Reviewed Margarita

"This is literally an unbelievable recipe. I was completely skeptical of this being worth anything at all. I'm a margarita purist, and almost never enjoy them at restaurants. They are always too sweet, or not fresh enough. But this is a winner. It's fresh tasting, smooth, tart with a hint of sweet. It's pretty damn near perfect. My only dilemma is how to share this with friends. It's not exactly conducive to entertaining, as it won't scale up easily. But if you're determined, I'm sure It will be worth it. I'm gonna try to figure out how to serve these at the superbowl party I'm attending. Thank you AB, I should know better than to question your genius.

Reviewed Penne with Vodka Sauce

"Wonderful base recipe. I used this to make shrimp with vodka sauce, and so the only main change was to saute some shrimp until par-coked before proceeding with the recipe. I then added the shrimp to the pot after the cream addition. I also used store bought tomato sauce. One thing i would caution it to be sure to cook the vodka off sufficiently for your taste, as it can be quite flavourful if your not wanting or expecting bold alcohol taste in your dish. The other thing to remember is that the cream will mellow out the vodka tast, and make it a lot smoother, so don't despair if your nervous about the flavours if you haven't yet added the cream. Shrimp or chicken would be great additions to this dish. Finish with fresh basil/parsley for a wonderful dish. Thanks Giada.

Reviewed White Pizzas with Arugula

"WOW! I'd been curious, but skeptical about this Arugula pizza for quite some time, and hadn't made it b/c i knew hubby wouldn't like it much. But yesterday i had i little extra dough and mad a small version, subbing a couple of the cheeses (gruyer and parmesan). I also put some shallots and parsley on since i had them left over from the other pizzas. Needless to say it was DELICIOUS! Very interesting mix of flavours, and the vinaigrette was a great contrast. I found i didn't need extra salt on the pizza, as my dough and vinaigrette were well seasoned, and combined with the salty cheeses, it was perfect. Thanks for the inspiration Ina. And by the way, even Hubby thought it wasn't bad, and got a slice of his own.
