Reviewed mexican chicken soup

3 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

Oh my gosh, this soup is amazing! The ingredients are so simple and even while making this I thought it looked very average... But looks are deceiving. I followed the recipe but had boneless skinless chicken breasts on hand, only used 2 jalapeos, and ommitted the tortillas since I forgot to purchase some. This soup is so good and warms you right...

Reviewed good old country stuffing

Dec 1, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was the first time I've ever made stuffing from scratch and I don't think I'll be going back to instant. Made as written except only needed 1 loaf of bread and 5 cups of chicken stock although it could probably be lessened to 4. I may try making this with the Pepperidge Farm Herb stuffing when I'm too lazy to cup up and oven dry the bread but...

Reviewed Minestrone Soup with Pasta, Beans and Vegetables Recipe : Robin Miller : Food Network

Nov 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I don't get all the hate for this recipe. It is pretty simple, seems more like a template to be able to customize to one's own liking. I made it as stated except increased the broth to 6 cups, used Great Northern beans, threw in 2 garlic cloves and increased the celery. It needed more salt and pepper for sure but really is not awful as some reviewers...

Reviewed raffy's quinoa and ceci soup

Oct 29, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This soup was so delicious! I made it as written except made a mistake and added the quinoa at the same time as the tomatoes and herbs. I ended up adding 2 1/2 more cups of broth because there was not nearly enough broth possibly from overcooking the quinoa and it was still quite thick. As for the taste the herbs really stood, out especially the rosemary....

Reviewed fresh corn salad

Aug 18, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This is a new favorite way to eat corn for me during the summer; it is a perfect side served cold. The only thing was that the cider vinegar really overpowered this dish for me. I will definitely make this recipe again but use maybe half the vinegar instead.

Reviewed gazpacho

Jul 26, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was my first time having gazpacho and it was not a letdown. Instead of cucumber I just used an extra zucchini and omitted the avocado and egg as I dislike both. I was also wary of the sugar as another reviewer warned so completely omitted it and am glad I did as I don't think it would have fit in well. I would have liked the flavors to be a little...

Jul 26, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was really good, turned out better than I expected, although my boyfriend and I both agreed it could use a little less sugar. I will try it with only 2 1/2 cups next time, the flavor is good enough to not have to use so much sugar.

Reviewed chickpea salad

Jul 15, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Despite all the rave reviews I was still surprised at how delicious this dish was. I followed the recipe except for adding some halved cherry tomatoes and using only about 1 tablespoon of rosemary which was perfect. It surprisingly compliments the other flavors but I think more would not have been as good. I may use a little less red wine vinegar...

Reviewed broccoli-cheddar oven risotto

Jul 9, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was a good and much easier way to make risotto. As another reviewer suggested I left the broccoli in for 15 minutes and the rice for 20. My broccoli got a little toasted and the rice could have been pulled sooner so I'll leave them in for less next time. Although this was tasty I do prefer a different risotto recipe which I've made before if...

I followed this recipe to a T and it came out great! I brought some into work to share as well and everyone there also loved it. It did need a little extra salt at the end imo and I';d like to double the lime juice and maybe add a little more onion next time. But this recipe was super easy and really good. Even though I think it';s suppos...

I really hope you didn't top the soup with crap. Thinking this was meant to say "crab," gave me a good laugh. And crab sounds really good on it!

Reviewed Chicken and Barley Stew

Jun 23, 2014 in on Food.com

This turned out pretty good for being so simple, just needed a little salt and pepper towards the end. I';m not a big fan of carrots but they complimented the barley and chicken very well. Took another reviewer';s advice and doubled the garlic and basil, and used fresh thyme. I also upped the amount of celery and would like to add diced p...

Reviewed mexican fish stew

Jun 11, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe lived up to all the hype, it's delicious! I ended up using about 1 pound of russet potatoes, 1 cup of frozen corn kernels and 1 1/2 cups of reserved water (could have used still a bit more water considering I stretched the amounts a little). I liked having more potatoes, they went together well with everything but I'd probably use a little...

Really good homemade chili! My mods: 1 lb ground turkey, 1 lb ground pork, an extra can of pinto beans instead of kidney which I hate, started with 1/8 cup chili powder, and for the beer I used 2 Coronas. My bf doesn't like spicy but there was barely a hint of spice so I added a little more chili powder but not the full 1/4 cup suggested. When I initially...

Mar 12, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This is some of if not THE best spaghetti I've ever had. It's really easy just a little time consuming. My modifications: used 2 pounds of meat with only ground turkey and ground pork, used 3/4 to a full cup each of the onion and green pepper, instead of all the seasonings used about 3 tsp of Lawry's, 1 tsp plain salt, and 1/2 tsp each of pepper and...

Made this primarily for my boyfriend and it turned out pretty good. My modifications were using only 2 tablespoons of chili powder and just under 1 tablespoon of Tabasco. Pretty good. I made a huge double batch and it was really easy and not very time consuming. Also you will want about 8 cups of chicken broth per batch, for my double batch...

Jan 12, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This turned out really good, especially for people that love corn! My only substitution was plain yogurt for the sour cream since I despise sour cream. I also used a 9x13 dish as instructed and was glad I did. My co-worker whom I shared this recipe with texted me concerned that her casserole had remained mushy in the center even after 50 minutes in...

Reviewed Penne with Turkey Meatballs

Jan 12, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Very easy and very good! Making meatballs is always time consuming but so worth it for good flavor. Instead of plain Romano I had a Parmesan-Romano blend on hand and definitely used more bread crumbs, I always seem to need more bread crumbs for Giada's meatball recipes than stated, and they did not fall apart at all. Also I just used some good store...
