Reviewed Jambalaya

"This turned out delicious using ingredients I had on hand. I didn't have tomato sauce, but did have a can of crushed tomatoes which filled in just fine. I also opted to add some creole seasoning and dried red chili peppers because I only had buffalo flavored hot sauce. It had the perfect amount of kick (my husband and I LOVE spicy dishes) and a"

Reviewed Shrimp and Andouille Gumbo

"This was my first time making a gumbo and I think this was a perfect recipe! I've never made something so aromatic as it was cooking! Certainly there's a lot of work involved, but anyone who knows about how to make gumbo realizes it takes some patience and time. And it had the perfect about of spiciness as well. The shrimp stock actually only gave me four cups of usable stock (even with 3lbs of shrimp,) so I added in some store-bought seafood stock to fill in the gap. Otherwise I followed the recipe to a T and it tasted extremely authentic to New Orleans gumbo. (Even without using okra or file powder!) It included easy to find ingredients considering I live in New England. I'll definitely be making this again!"

About Me

I consider myself an amateur cook, but with the willingness to learn everything I possibly can!  I have discovered a love for cooking and trying new recipes.  (And it certainly helps to have a husband who knows a thing or two to help me along the way, but also sits back and lets me take over!)  It can definitely be very therapeutic and when I have enough time in a day, I take on bigger and harder challenges.

Favorite Foods

I live in Maine so of course lobster is what's popular up here, but I love more than just seafood!  I couldn't just pick one thing that I love, because I'm not all that picky!

I'm probably best known for my baking skills because everyone seems to love my cookies and whoopie pies, but I want to become the 'cook' in the family!
