My Activity

Reviewed Homemade Soft Pretzels

"These are very good pretzels. I did use milk instead of water and instant yeast instead of active dry yeast. They weren't crunchy, but soft on the outside. I don't know if that was because I used milk. I'll make them again with water the next time and see. Taste just like those expensive ones you buy at the big box stores but healthier.

Reviewed Soft Pretzels

"I love pretzels and when I saw Guy's recipe in the newest magazine I had to try it. However, I had to make a few changes because of ingredients I didn't have. Instead of wholewheat flour I used rye and instead of agave I used honey. I also used my standup mixer instead of the food processor. All was great till it came time to put the pretzels together. My technique was less than desirable and I think I'll just forget stripping it out and just make one big roll and cut it in half. I used butter, cinnamon and sugar on the first set and nutella and peanut butter on the other set. I was acutally surprised how well they turned out not because of Guy's recipe but because how I fumbled through it. I have already decided to try it again, but this time with just bread flour and using a different technique.

Reviewed Gorgonzola-Pear Toasts

"I concur with the last reviewer. It was a hit! An hour before I needed them, I toasted the baguettes and prepared the cheese mixture and refrigerated it to be assembled about 15 minutes before I walked out the door. I was actually surprised because I wasn't fond of the taste myself and thought about leaving them at home. Everyone was ooohing and ahhhing. It was the hit of the party.

Reviewed Cocoa Brownies

"I enjoyed these brownies! I did use bread flour instead of all purpose flour and it made the batter thicker but that means I had a more cakier brownie, which is fine with me. It was rich and decadant. I did have to cook it for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
