Reviewed whipped sweet potatoes and bananas with honey

Nov 28, 2014 on

My niece made this for Thanksgiving yesterday using less butter and my topping for Apple Crisp. Too much banana flavor for a side dish but would make a great pie.

This is just how my mother taught me to make macaroni & cheese...oh, getting on to almost 50 years ago now! It's the best ever!

Reviewed Creamed Corn Cornbread

Nov 17, 2013 on

This will now be my "go-to" recipe for cornbread! It is the! I can't say enough good things about it...quick, easy, moist, sweet (I may even leave out the 1 T. sugar next time), hearty corn taste, perfect texture, versatile (could add cheese, peppers, veggies, etc.), I did not have buttermilk so used 1 T. white vinegar before...

I scaled the recipe to serve 10 and did use the fresh berries nor the lemon since I was making individual frosty drinks. I liked that it only have a few ingredients. It was tasty without being sweet. If I make this again, I would blend in some fresh berries to give it a more rounded flavor."

I only made the crust as I have a TNT recipe for the filling that I love. The crust was very, very tasty but crumbly. (Taste wise, it was the best crust I've made.) I will make it again but will add more moisture. I will also be reducing the butter & adding more vegetable shortening for a flakier crust."

I hate to review recipes when I haven't used all the ingredients but I did want to remind myself of what I did leave out and the result, LOL. I did not use chicken nor did I have fresh parsley. I did add a minced jalapeno & extra garlic. The result was tasty but no heat, a bit salty (didn't add salt, must be from the chicken broth), no taste of"

Reviewed Sweet and Sour Grilled Shrimp

Aug 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I have made the marinade for the shrimp several times now and it is definitely my "go-to" recipe for grilled shrimp. It's not too spicy hot which I love. I have yet to make the sauce as it really isn't needed. The shrimp stand alone perfectly. I should try to remember to make extra marinade and cook it a bit to thicken as a reviewer did. That"

Reviewed Marinated and Grilled London Broil with Emeril's Homemade Steak Sauce

Jul 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I did not make the steak sauce as I would have been the only one to eat it. The marinade was rather basic in the "raw" state (used Dijon as had no course ground mustard. However it did give a nice flavor to the outside of the grilled steak."
