Reviewed grilled shrimp scampi

Jul 20, 2014 on

Absolutely delicious! Only used half the garlic as my husband isn't a huge fan, otherwise followed recipe exactly. Served over whole grain linguini and it was fantastic! Definitely a keeper and will be great for company.

Reviewed sauteed cabbage

The best cabbage recipe ever - I wouldn't change a thing. Even my husband, who is a fan of cabbage only in cole slaw, loved it!

Reviewed Roasted Shrimp Cocktail

Dec 29, 2013 on

This is SO good - such a refreshing change from the boring shrimp cocktail or shrimp ring.

Reviewed Lasagna

Dec 25, 2013 on

Made this for Christmas dinner - absolutely the BEST lasagna our family and relatives have eaten - they raved about it. It was time consuming but not difficult and so worth it! I made the sauce two days ahead (and had a nice amount left over to freeze), made the lasagna one day ahead so all I had to do on Christmas was pop it in the oven, make a...

Reviewed Mini Skillet Meatloaves

Dec 12, 2013 on

This is the best meatloaf recipe ever and so quick! Leftovers (there are only two of us in our household) freeze nicely. My favorite go-to recipe for comfort food - pairs well with mashed potatoes or mac and cheese (and a vegetable of course!)

Reviewed Slow Cooker Tortilla Soup

This was absolutely delicious! Took the leftovers to work the next day and it was practically inhaled! Used all vegetable broth, no water and added a can of corn. The cilantro and lime flavored chips are a must!

Reviewed Slow Cooker Sausage, Bean and Pasta Stew

Sep 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Very easy and very, very flavorful - especially the next day. I made the mistake of using chicken sausage and the texture was not good but I will make this recipe again for sure!"

This is the best potato salad ever. I wouldn't change a thing!"

Reviewed Glazed Carrots and Turnips

Apr 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I replaced the granulated sugar with brown sugar, doubling the amount called for. When it came time to "turn up the heat", I added another tbsp of brown sugar to the skillet. It was great - carmelized very nicely and the carrots were well cooked."

Reviewed Peppermint Chocolate Coffee

Dec 26, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Made this to accompany our Christmas Dinner dessert and everyone said it was the best coffee ever! I couldn't find peppermint syrup so I used two small candy canes (kept them in their cellophane wrappers, placed in a ziplock bag and smashed them with a mallet) per cup of coffee. Delicious!!""

Reviewed Vegetable Tarte Tatin

Dec 26, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Made this for Christmas Dinner - everyone loved it! I was not successful in making the carmelized layer for the bottom of the pan - after throwing out two batches of "muck" (and I did swirl the pan as opposed to stirring), I substituted a small amount of maple syrup. Worked like a charm!""

Reviewed Good Eats Roast Turkey

Nov 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My sister always hosts Thanksgiving Dinner. They are always good (even the year she roasted the turkey upside down) but this year I recommended she try this recipe and it was WONDERFUL! Everyone agreed it was the best turkey ever - I don't usually care for white meat because it's so dry but this was so moist and tender. Thanks yet again, Alton...

Reviewed Not Your Mama's Green Bean Casserole

Nov 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

After years of the same boring but traditional green bean casserole on the Thanksgiving dinner table, I was looking for something new. Everyone LOVED it - there were no leftovers! After reading other reviews, I did use canned onions to save time and it was still delicious. You rock, Alton!""
