Reviewed Collard Greens

Feb 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

DIVINE. I made this recipe and added 1/2 cup sugar as suggested in the Neely's "Gina's Best Collards" recipe. I also used a giant smoked ham hock, extra hot pepper sauce and a can of beer in place of 1 quart of water. My friends ate the entire pot and said it would be criminal to not save the potlicker for soup. REALLY GOOD.""

I actually made Paula Deen's collards recipe HOWEVER, I borrowed the idea of adding sugar suggested in this recipe. My collards were DELECTABLE. Definitely cut the sugar in half and add ONLY a 1/2 cup otherwise, it will be really sweet. This new addition gave the collards that "something, something" and that something was GOOD.""

Reviewed Aromatic Lamb Meatballs

Aug 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this tonight and they are de-licious. My neighbourhood has a great middle eastern market where you can get the most flavourful samosas. These meatballs taste just like the filling in those samosas. I did make some changes - omitted scallions and replaced then with 1/2 a small onion and a couple of cloves of garlic processed to a fine pu...

Reviewed Linguine with Shrimp Scampi

Aug 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This dish is not only delicious but super easy to make and is a go to dish when I'm pinched for time. My husband's face lights up any time I tell him it's for dinner. I do leave out the lemon slices and taste as I go when adding the lemon juice. I also prefer to roast the shrimp as per Ina's other recipe for a similar dish on this site - Lemon...

Reviewed Carrot Cake

Jul 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is amazing carrot cake. I too doubled the amount of spices which made for a very rich and moist cake. I also baked the batter off as cupcakes and added a touch of maple syrup to the frosting. Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend couldn't stop eating them and I think he's having one right now!"

Reviewed Crunchy Pork Chops with Garlicky Spinach and Tomato Salad

Jun 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Absolutely tasty! A quick and easy dish for a weeknight meal - or any night for that matter. I doubled the dressing and added thinly sliced red onion to the tomato mixture and allowed everything to macerate while I cooked the pork chops (boneless and pounded thin). For the reviewers that found this "too garlicky" c'mon the recipe title states ""

Reviewed Roast Duck

Dec 6, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I was extremely skeptical about this recipe as it seemed far too easy and only used 4 ingredients but, this duck is delish! I followed the recipe as stated decreased the stock amount to accommodate one duck for two people. So fabulous, so absolutely fabulous. The key is to pat the duck dry after it comes out of the stock pot, season it generously...

Reviewed Warm Zucchini Bread

Sep 28, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Scrumptious! I too followed other reviewers and did not squeeze the liquid of the zucchini but, opted to add all the shredded zucchini in with the juice (there was about a cup of liquid). The cakes were extremely moist and tasted even better the next day - I tripled the recipe. Definitely making these again with chocolate chips added - also delicious...
