Reviewed healthy and flavor-filled soba salad

9 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

This was outstanding! My family's "heat preference" runs from mild to medium salsa, and when I used the red finger pepper, I pulled out all the ribs and seeds - not knowing how hot it would be. It would have been just fine to have left the ribs on, seeds out. This recipe is going into rotation. It also took me longer than 20 minutes, but I could...

Reviewed chicken with a lemon herb sauce

Feb 22, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Ok this reminds me of a French technique/style called "Persillade", which is a smashed mixture of parsley and garlic, herbs, oil, and an acid, like vinegar or lemon juice. First learned about it from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I did this a little differently, with outstanding results. Used about 6 chopped fresh cloves of...

Reviewed Pear and Pomegranate Salad with Gorgonzola and Champagne Vinaigrette

Dec 16, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Just made this salad as our part of a Christmas progressive dinner. It was a hit with all, and the salad looked beautiful next to all of the Christmas decorations. I followed the recipe as presented, but added candied walnuts. Did everything else "as is" and it was very well received. I will most certainly make this salad again for company.

Reviewed Blueberry-Onion Sauced Pork Tenderloin

Nov 14, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is a Grand Slam - absolutely spectacular, not difficult, and very different! I didn't have port (used sweet sherry) and I will be making this again with port wine in the sauce to compare/contrast. I browned the pork tenderloin (patted dry and rubbed in salt/pepper/garlic) in olive oil until nicely browned all over, and then popped the...

Made this with chicken thighs (boneless, skinless), and it was delicious. Family has requested again! Easy to fix, on foil lined baking sheet (easy clean up). Give it a try."

Reviewed Mixed Salad with Tarragon

I really liked this salad and so did my family. Season with salt as you serve. I used white wine (Chardonnay because it is what I had on hand), but I look forward to trying this with white balsamic vinegar. Fresh tarragon really made it special."

My husband hates asparagus, but a friend sent some over from her garden, and I wanted a different way to cook it (he grew up with boiled asparagus with mayo - blech!.

This was such a hit with everyone. I used Consorzio Roasted Garlic Olive Oil, and it was succulent. I will make this recipe again and again!""

Reviewed Bruschetta with Tomato and Basil

Mar 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was excellent, but did require tinkering to suit my needs. Followed the tomato prep instructions, but added 2 cloves of pressed garlic and 2 Tbsp of Colavita balsamic vinegar (no other brand will do!). My prep: Go to the bakery. Buy 1 baguette. Ask the nice lady/gentleman behind the counter to slice it for you. Brush the sliced bread w...

Dec 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was a total holiday hit! Served with Bobby Flay's Horseradish crust Prime Rib (highly recommended. This took some prep, but was easy enough to do well ahead of time before guests arrived. They are pretty and taste good. My 9 year old trimmed all the beans, and we worked together to wrap the middles. I used a thinner-sliced type bacon (a...

Easy to fix, much to love. Added potatoes with the other veggies. Ended up using a tri-tip roast because it was what I had on hand. Used both the ground cloves and allspice, and it added a delicious piquancy. Served with great big buttered biscuits. This one is a keeper!

This is my favorite bar cookie recipe of all time. I have made this for 20+ years, and it has never failed. It is so delicious, and easy to make. It's worth it to keep the ingredients on hand for a last-minute treat with little fuss or preparation. I was delighted to find this recipe on my favorite website, and I urge you to give this one a try....

Reviewed Paula's Perfect Pie Crust

Nov 21, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

I did it! You can't possibly appreciate what a giant accomplishment it is for me to make a successful pie crust. I have had one disaster after another, to the point that I keep the frozen and refrigerated pie crust manufacturers in business. I followed the directions as written (there is also a video on this site - which was helpful) and it worked....
