Not sure what others did, but I followed this recipe word for word and it ended up very tasty! I agree that you need to layers the flavors. That way, I could even taste the smoke from the mushrooms in the end. My friends love it and it's very clean to eat (yet filling). I will be making it again.

Reviewed Hotcakes with Delicious Blueberry Compote

We have 3 wild mulberry bushes in our yard and I had just picked a massive amount of them. After seeing this I was inspired. I followed the same recipe but just substituted mulberries instead of blueberries. The compote and the hotcakes were fantastic! Best pancakes/hotcakes I've made. Totally doing this again!"

Reviewed Ground Chicken and Blue Cheese Burgers

Really loved this. I use a lot of ground chicken and turkey and was tired of making the same old thing (aka: meatloaf). I went searching online and found this. I didn't have any tarragon so I ground up some fennel seeds I had and it worked wonderfully as a substitute. Otherwise, I pretty much followed the recipe. My 4 year old even enjoyed it"
