My Activity

Reviewed Seedy Crisps

"We love these crackers. Just baked up a batch but have made them many times. Per other suggestions, I also add 1/2 tsp each of garlic powder and onion powder. I also substitute 1 Tbsp of olive oil for 1 Tbsp of sesame oil, which I always have on hand. I agree they need the longer side of the cook times to get crisp. Yum!"

Reviewed Blueberry Buckle

"I have made this several times and it is fantastic every time. Yesterday I made it with raspberries (frozen 9 months ago from our local farm). My family thinks that the raspberry one is even better than the blueberry one but they are both excellent. My sister made 2 in metal pans and had issues with overcooking and undercooking. I always use m"

Reviewed Free Range Fruitcake

"I never liked fruitcake at all but decided to give this one a try. I made it in mid-late winter (after I got the book for Christmas). It was wonderful. I am seeing my elderly parents soon and plan to make some summer fruitcake to bring to them! I made mini-loaf pans and let it age 3-5 weeks before it was all gone. This time I'm going to put i"

Reviewed Crookneck Squash Frittata

"This was an excellent Lenten meal. Everyone in the family loved it. I highly recommend trying this recipe. I might experiment with more/other veggies and some other fresh herbs next time. But it was excellent as is too."

Reviewed Sweet Potato Waffles

"We really liked these waffles. I used 3 eggs like several other people. The batter is really thick and they were very filling. The taste was wonderful. We couldn't taste the sweet potatoes at all, but could detect the citrus/orange zest. Next time I think I might try to add 1-2T of orange juice just to loosen the batter.

Reviewed Good Eats Roast Turkey

"Made this for Thanksgiving. We all loved it. I had to watch the videos a few times to supplement the printed recipe. The brine is great. I was worried at first because other meats I've had that soaked in brine were far too salty, but this one was not! Definitely a keeper.

Reviewed Steel Cut Oatmeal

"Made this recently after watching the show. Used 1/4 C half and half and 1/4 C skim milk to approximate whole milk, which I never have on hand. Even though I mixed the buttermilk into the milk ahead of time, it still curdled when added to the oatmeal. But the taste was great and we will make this again.
