Reviewed Europane Bakery & Cafe

Jun 26, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I haven't seen the episode that featured Euro Pane, but I definitely agree that the egg salad sandwich there is among the best things I've ever eaten. The pastries, breads, and coffee I've had there have been excellent, as well, and prices are low for such great-quality baked goods.

Reviewed Buttermilk Pound Cake

Jan 14, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I've always thought of pound cake as a heavy, dry, dense loaf with minimal flavor, and I've never been interested in making one. But I had buttermilk to use up, and I figured if anyone could make pound cake worth the calories it would be the folks at Good Eats. The cake flour is genius in this; my cake came out soft, moist, fluffy, and buttery-good!...

This is a great, easy recipe. The dough is incredibly easy to work with and makes tall, beautiful slices of soft, flavorful bread. I have finally found a sandwich bread recipe that I want to make again."

Argh, darned iPad jumped tabs as I was typing reviews. Obviously my previous note was about a different recipe. THIS recipe is also awesome, though! Reviewed Cocoa Brownies

Aug 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These are good brownies, but not great ones. They have an amazing, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the low baking temperature made these the most evenly-baked brownies I've ever made, even though they are incredibly thick. However, the flavor, while intensely chocolatey, is somehow just not as good as the flavor of other, similar brownies I've m"

Reviewed The Baked Brownie

I make these when I';m baking for people who love dense, gooey, super-fudgy brownies. The chocolate flavor and sweetness are perfectly balanced, and overall this is one of my favorite recipes."

These are pretty good all-purpose brownies. I love that the texture is moist and fudgy without being dense. For me, the chocolate flavor could be stronger; even with all that unsweetened chocolate I found these to be a little too sweet and a little weak in chocolate intensity."

Wow. These brownies are fantastic. WAY better than I imagined, and I had high expectations! They have the intense, dark chocolate flavor I expected from all the chocolate and the coffee, and while I don't usually like chunks in my brownies, the chips and nuts are great in these. What I didn't expect was the fabulously soft, moist texture. Bas"

This is a thick, fudgy yet fluffy brownie, and the cocoa plus melted and chopped chocolate give it an intense dark chocolate flavor. I';ve never used the creaming method to make brownies before, but it seems to make for a melt-in-your-mouth texture that is indeed very good!"

Delicious! This recipe combines great flavors into something that's very different from the average chili. Rich and smoky, and I especially love the cinnamon in it. Like the previous commenter, I found the finished chili a little bitter/acidic without the addition of a little brown sugar, but otherwise it was amazing, and it was even better the "

Not only is this the best cheesecake I';ve ever eaten, but this is a very forgiving recipe as well. This recipe (which I';m quite sure is Martha Stewart';s), is AMAZING. These 3 babkas are the most beautiful, delicious, and impressive items to ever come out of my kitchen. Time-consuming and labor-intensive, yes, but well worth it. These make wonderful gifts, if you can bear to part with them; people go crazy over the swirly slices."

I'm sure this rum raisin rice pudding is great. I just have never gotten around to adding the rum and raisins, because the recipe is so good without them. I add a little cinnamon at the end and have a delicious, traditional rice pudding with the perfect taste and texture; just like the fancy deli rice pudding I loved as a kid."

I am in LOVE with this frosting! It's so fudgy, it tastes almost like brownie batter. Whipping it at the end was a bit of a workout; I think next time I'll let my mixer do that part for me. But the rest of the process was super easy, and this is by far the best chocolate frosting I've ever made."

Smooth, creamy, sweet, and delicious! This tastes like a richer, better version of the butterscotch pudding from a box that I enjoyed as a kid, and it's just as easy to make. The recipe is very forgiving; I didn't have any heavy cream so I used all whole milk and the texture is still great. I also followed the advice of a previous poster and rep"
