Reviewed Throwdown's Toasted Coconut Cake with Coconut Filling and Coconut Buttercream

"I have to say, when I read the reviews that said this recipe was terrible and that they "followed the recipe exactly"...well, they just couldn't have followed it exactly. They made a mistake somewhere. I only cheated on the cake and made a box mix. But everything else was made following the instructions and it came out perfectly. I would have like"

Reviewed Panettone Bread Pudding with Amaretto Sauce

"I am very happy with this recipe...yes I did make changes but not enough to really change the recipe. I bought a loaf of Panettone that was Amaretto flavored. When I looked up recipes (remembering Giada had a recipe for bread pudding using Panettone) I found this one with the Amaretto sauce. So I just made the sauce vanilla instead of Amaretto. I "

Reviewed Grilled Shrimp Scampi Style with Soy Sauce, Fresh Ginger and Garlic

"The flavor in this sauce is really nice on shrimp! Not too much intense flavor so the shrimp could still shine through. I was surprised by the butter in the recipe but it works! I don't know if I did something wrong...maybe ran it through the food processor to long but it turned out very thick....kind of like pudding. So I added some chicken stock"

Reviewed Almost-Famous Corn Salsa

"I really liked this recipe! Nice change from regular salsa or Pico de Gallo. I added quartered grape tomatoes to it but other than that...stuck right with the recipe. Oh, and I grilled the corn according to Bobby Flay's recipe on this site. Other than THAT, I followed the recipe. LOL Very nice!"

Reviewed Grouper Fingers with Tartar Sauce

"This was a very easy and tasty dish to make. I did not make the tartar sauce according to the recipe though. I made a lemony tartar sauce which was really good with the fish. I would definitely make this again. Too easy not to have it as a go-to recipe."

Reviewed Buttermilk Pie

"I just made this...with a few changes. The reason I changed it was because I live (for now) in a foreign country. I already had an orange in the fridge and I was too lazy to make a pie crust from scratch. I can't find ready made pie crusts here. So I made it crustless. I baked it in a parchment lined 9" square baking dish. I substituted the orang"

Reviewed Decadent Toffee Brownies

"These were the moistest thick brownies I've ever had...not cakey! Maybe it was just my oven but it took nearly an hour to bake to doneness. Still were very delicious!"

Reviewed Blondies With Dark Roots

"ha ha! By a happy mistake I put 3 eggs in this. I don't know why. I just had it in my brain that there were supposed to be 3. It made a wonderful little cake! I enjoyed these very much. I think I'll play around with different flavors the next time I make them...maybe add some orange zest or something. ""

About Me

I'm a woman who loves food and cooking. I travel around the world with my husband and I'm always taking in the local flavor and trying to learn about new ingredients and new techniques!

While my husband works, I am busy being an online food editor for Taste of Home magazine and also a recipe tester for America's Test Kitchens. I was also the editor for the Radschlager magazine in Germany. It's an English magazine in which I could publish my own articles and recipes!

We are now living in Malaysia while we try to adopt our little girl. There is not much of Malay food that I enjoy so we're eating a lot of Chinese when we go out. But I have found a little outdoor kitchen whose owner is willing to share some delicious recipes!

Favorite Foods

Irish foods have moved into the #1 slot for me. We spent a week in Ireland during the cold Autumn and fell in love with the stews and pies that were all served with soda bread! Delicious!

My favorite restaurant is Agave's in New York City! Incredibly authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine!
