Replied to Grandma Williams' Biscuits Recipe : Food Network

Update: I've made these numerous times and they are truly the best we've ever eaten. They are large, moist, light and fluffy. They come out of the oven looking like something out of a magazine but I will say the more I make them the more comfortable I've gotten with knowing how big to make them and how to work the dough. It takes time to get a...

You don't have to use Atkinson's, check your local grocery store for Southern Biscuit Mix with butter flakes as mentioned in another review. Why rate a recipe one star when you haven't made it?

I ordered my flour from Atkinson Milling Company in NC and also bought the cinnamon biscuit mix as well. We love this recipe because there is no frying mess but mainly because it's an excellent recipe. I follow the recipe exactly but I have flavored them with almond extract instead of vanilla at times. I've also made a glaze instead of the cinnamon sugar for a change. Anything you flavor them with or coat them with is excellent.

This is a favorite although instead of using the champagne vinegar, I use red wine vinegar and at times add fresh chopped chives. I have been making this side dish for many years. It never fails to get rave reviews when taken to covered dish gatherings."
