I follow the ingredients pretty much as is - except I fry real bacon and only drain the beans about halfway. However, I then bake them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. This gets rid of the strong alcohol taste and blends the flavors more and they get thick and gooey. I've been making this recipe for about five years and everyone is excited...
