Reviewed asian grilled salmon

2 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

I know my husband and I are in the minority here with our review due to that most people who reviewed this recipe loved it. We just weren't 'wowed' by this one. We followed the recipe EXACTLY as it was written. We are usually very impressed with all of Ina's recipes, {we like her 'Roasted Salmon with Green Herbs' on this website far better}. Can't...

Reviewed pancetta bacon pasta

3 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

I 'bought' my Pancetta but one day in the future may try my hand at making some using this recipe. This recipe was good but needs 'something' I may try putting a squeeze of lemon juice over it at the end next time. I made this recipe as it was written except for the following: I used only about 3/4 lb. of pancetta {1 lb. 4 oz. was too much for the...

Reviewed roasted salmon with green herbs

Jun 2, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent. I've served this at two dinner parties & it was a hit both times. This is quick, light, healthy & elegant. I followed the recipe exactly to the 'T' and didn't change anything at all. As it would be in a fine dining restaurant, this salmon is supposed to be served on the rare side, and not any longer than the directions say.

Reviewed zucchini bread with dried cranberries and vanilla bean glaze

May 11, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

We LOVED this and made it as written {using the 'vegetable oil' option}, except for one substitution where we used black raisins instead of dried cranberries {they were all we had on hand & the raisins worked great}. I suggest not to skip the 'glaze' or the 'orange zest' they really added something to this keeper recipe.

Reviewed Tangy Coleslaw with Smoked Corn and Lime Dressing Recipe : Food Network

May 10, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this exactly as was written. It was colorful like confetti and super healthy. I smoked the corn and everything. It was certainly OK, but I think needs just a bit more zip. I'm not entirely sure if the 'smoke' flavor from smoking the corn enhances or detracts from this salad. I think I will make this recipe next time without smoking the corn...

Reviewed Indian Rice Pudding Recipe : Food Network

May 5, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I so wanted to love this because I am a big rice pudding fan, cardamom fan, and a fan of Indian cuisine. I didn't care for this particular recipe though. The large amount of cardamom along with the rosewater made this taste soapy.I made the recipe exactly as it was written with no deviations. I like creamier rice pudding and this wasn't creamy. Although...

Reviewed black beans in a pressure cooker

Mar 25, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

The first time I've used the pressure cooker to cook dried beans. For flavor I out of necessity I substituted a 1" inch thick round slice of Pancetta {Italian bacon} instead of the ham hock, it was the only thing I had on hand. After pressure cooking I removed the Pancetta & discarded it {it had become too chewy/tough to eat but it added a lot...

My husband loves eating this --he raved about it. The video from the TV show was extremely helpful in reminding me how to bone & prep the salmon steak. Although this rub from the recipe is delicious, many other types of rubs & flavorings can also be used with this method of preparing the salmon. This method of wrapping the salmon up makes for a ve"

I suggest to use an immersion / stick blender instead of a food processor it's much easier & saves time. I made the recipe nearly as written except I only had 'Kale' on hand in place of baby arugula. So I roasted the Kale for the 45 min. along with the potatoes & Leeks. I Roasted all the veggies together in a giant huge Lodge iron frying pan inst"

Reviewed Gnocchi With Brown Butter and Sage

Apr 24, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My first time making Gnocchi from scratch, I found this recipe was clear/easy to follow and worked well! I did however bake my potatoes in the micro wave to SAVE TIME and micro works extremely well. You will not be sacrificing quality if you micro the 'taters. I cooked them until a tooth pic was easily inserted, then I peeled & riced them. Althoug"

Feb 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I'm sorry but we didn't really like this here's why. The wantons didn't have much flavor and the texture was too cracker like. The filling wasn't sweet enough. We sprinkled them with confectioners sugar to add some sweetness. And might I add I am not into super sweet things but would like this to be sweater. I would not make this again."

Although the addition of dried cranberries was a nice touch & the fresh ingredients are healthy, this dish was overall disappointing for a few reasons. I made it exactly as written except I didn't add any chicken. My husband thought this was too lemony & I agree with him. I thought the dressing wasn't rich enough & didn't have a creamy enough mout"

I made this recipe exactly as written except decreased only the asfetida, heres why. I love & cook authentic Indian food often, most of what I know I've learned from Madhur Jaffreys books. I think the spice measurements in this were 'off' the soup was very bitter. The 1 teaspoon amount of Asfetida seemed way too much in my opinion. Most other reci"
