My Activity
Reviewed Turkey Giblet Gravy
"This was amazing! I took the giblets out at the last minute and added 1/2 tsp kitchen gourmet. It was perfect! I also skipped the potato starch and used corn starch .""
Reviewed Buttermilk Baked Chicken
"Easy and delicious! This was my first attempt at a buttermilk chicken. I was on a budget, so I bought 5 organic drumsticks instead of a whole chicken. They took about 55 minutes to bake thoroughly and were still nice and juicy! The crust was perfect and crunchy. My husband said I should make this again!
I noticed some reviewers said their crust was soggy. You must use a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Dredge the chicken in buttermilk, pat in the cornflakes, and immediately put on the wire racks. If you bake directly on the baking sheet, or let the chicken sit flat, you'll get a soggy crust. (Think milk and cereal.
The crust is pretty heavy on parmesan, so I used lightly flavored side dishes that worked well with the chicken. I recommend prepping the chicken before work in the morning or cooking this on the weekend. There's a bit of time and dishes involved. "

Note: The house was FULL of parmesan smell, maybe a bit much for me (pregnant) so I opened windows, but my husband loved it. I used lightly flavored side dishes that worked well with the chicken. Reviewed Peach Crumb Pie
"Easy and delicious! I loved the flavor, and it was really easy to do! I just used a potato peeler to peel the peaches, used a premade pie crust (Pilsbury), and used a food processor to grind some whole almonds that we had. It cooked perfectly in 45 minutes.
Note: for an unburnt pie crust edge, cover the edges with foil before you bake. Also, pierce the bottom and edges of the crust with a fork to prevent bubbling.
I prefer the double crust. I made this with the crumble, and still thought it would be better with a double crust. That's just personal preference. "
Reviewed Crispy Crunchy Fish and Chips
"My husband and I used our fryer for the fish, and we used cod instead of tilapia. We thought the batter seemed REALLY thick as we were mixing it. After cooking, the layer of batter on the fish was like pancakes and was lacking flavor. It was just ok. The timing and temp were perfect, but again the batter was just too thick and the flavor was not there.
The potatoes seemed to be bland and sort of a soggy mess. Even after refrying the potatoes they didn't work out. We won't be following this recipe again. "
