Reviewed Sloppy Lasagna

"I agree with many of the other posters that, while a good start, this recipe needs a bit more oomph. A bit more onion, lots more garlic and it definitely needs mozzarella (lasagna without mozzarella? - What were you thinking Rachael?!). And the combination of a red sauce and a white sauce is excellent. But this is also a great recipe for throwing in whatever you have on hand - beef, pork, prosciutto, mushrooms, asiago cheese, etc. Sometimes I add some spinach and an egg to the ricotta or put the basil in the ricotta, instead of the sauce. It also works well with whole wheat lasagna. It definitely takes longer than 30 mins - it takes 20 mins just to cook in the oven - and you'll use lots of pots and pans and bowls. But this feeds an army very inexpensively, and a very happy army it will be.
