Reviewed Sour Cream Coffee Cake
"The cookbook calls for 3/4 cup of brown sugar in the streusel, which I did and it came out fine. Great homemade taste. Going to freeze cake and serve in a week for brunch."
Reviewed Crash Hot Potatoes
"Unfortunately, these are just roasted potatoes with the extra steps of boiling the potatoes and mashing each one to look like a crushed potato. I boiled mine for 15 min. and they were a touch over done, they kind of fell apart when I mashed them. They needed a little more flavor. Anyway, they really just taste like a roasted potato."
Reviewed Chipotle and Rosemary Roasted Nuts
"These are really yummy! Used closer to 6 cups of nuts and kept other measurements the same. Kept my eye on them after 15 min. in oven and probably ended up cooking them another 6-7 minutes under close watch until all the liquid evaporated. Left the last 2 TBS of rosemary out, it was a bit much for my liking. Originally put them on sheet pan co"
Reviewed Old-Time Beef Stew
"I let this simmer for most of the day and the meat gets so tender. I add more garlic and leave out the all spice, added a little seasoning from the beef stew spice packets. Didn't have cornstarch so made a rue with some flour and butter, worked out fine. Great make ahead winter dish."
Reviewed Mississippi Mud Cake
"Just for ease, I used a cake box mix. The filling was really easy to make and good. The frosting is good too, you need the 6 cups of powdered sugar with the bittersweet chocolate. I just used a 10oz. Bag of bittersweet chips, it came out fine. I just didn't care for the consistency of this frosting, it comes out very grainy and not smooth. Als"
Reviewed Soppressata and Cheese in Puff Pastry
"So easy and impressive looking. Made probably 5 times already. I like using a thinly sliced spicy Spanish chorizo and freshly shredded jarlsberg cheese. You can really use any meat/cheese combo. I get it ready in the morning, then brush the egg wash on and bake right before serving."
Reviewed Sausage Hors d'Oeuvres
"Pretty good. Gave 4 stars because I did change recipe around. Used 1 pound of fresh spicy sausage, not that tubed sausage. Added 2 cups of freshly grated sharp cheddar, used the 3 cups of bisquick and added 2 eggs to help bind everything. Also seasoned generously with salt/pepper. Didn't use a mixer, kneaded the mix like dough for 5 minutes ti"
Reviewed Tomato Crostini with Whipped Feta
"So delish, fresh and easy. Can definitely make ahead and assemble 1,2,3 before serving. I halved the recipe for just me and my husband and it was so filling. Served with some red wine, we didn't even want the spaghetti and meatballs I made for dinner. Followed recipe exactly, maybe added a touch more basil and pine nuts. Can't wait to serve to fr"
