Reviewed Mussels with Chorizo

"I have seen this episode a couple of times now and I am not a Chorizo fan (too greasy by far). But for flavor it works as Sunny says. Great, simple recipe that anyone can do and with her sop-tastic garlic bread your better half will love it, lol.

That being said, it's enjoyable to watch this show because Sunny is down to earth and it's like""

Reviewed BBQ Mango Tilapia

"This meal is really about the sauce--the Tilapia is an afterthought. My family enjoys Tilapia so my daughter made this today for our lunch and I made a different Hungry Girl dish for dinner tonight. This meal was completely forgettable and NOT worth the almost 200 calories. 200 calories for a piece of TILAPIA?! You couldn't taste the delicate f""

Reviewed Cheeseburger Mac Attack

"I made this for dinner tonight because we enjoy cauliflower but it wasn't very good. Everything overpowered the flavor of the turkey. The cauliflower was good (although I prefer fresh) but it was like waiting 4 hours to eat something I could have made from a boil in a bag. ""

Reviewed Fresh and Fruity Hot Dog Skewers

"The pineapple completely overpowered the hot dogs (which didn't surprise me since pineapple flavor tends to do that to subtle flavors) and the flavor of cherry tomatoes didn't mesh with a hot dog taste at all. No one liked this and we won't be making again.""

Reviewed Apple-Raisin Cole Slaw

"The Granny Smith apples give a wonderful, crisp/tart kick to this slaw. I also love the tang of the vinegar. One thing I never thought of using in a slaw is Celery Seed and I love how it works with the other ingredients.

Another great thing about this recipe is that you can adjust the dressing ingredient measurements to suit your family's"

Reviewed Sunny's Easy Baked Beans

"Tasty, simple and leaves them coming back for more! Do NOT add corn starch or potato flour as suggested by someone; Just reduce the amount of stock to suit your personal preference. Remember--these beans are North Carolina style ;-)

The ingredients in this recipe can be adjusted to suit the taste buds of anyone and that makes this recipe a "

About Me

I'm old school for sure.  We don't write down our recipes as we cook--we just make it and then our daughters can never get it "quite right" when they try to make it because all of the measurements are guesswork, lol.

I enjoy watching Sunny Anderson's "Cooking For Real" because her food is good and she inspires me to say "hmm, I can do that" .

I love my family--which includes 4 dogs, lol.  We enjoy playing cards together, a simple hot dog bbq and long talks.

Favorite Foods

I love making a good Pork Roast or a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn on the cob for dinner.  I also love bbq'd hot dogs with my potato salad and a nice cucumber vinegar salad.

I make several comfort food dishes that my kids LOVE and those are homeade Chicken and Dumplings, Swiss Steak, my Lasagna (totally different than anyone else's--a great idea from my ex mother in law) and Stuffed Pepper Soup.  They enjoy my Cabbage Rolls as well.
