"I've been making variations of this recipe for years. As a former Army wife (26 yrs) these basic recipe's are a must for entertaining, as they are easy, quick and ingredients are always easy to find. Typically you can always have these ingredients on hand for a snack if someone stops by or for any social function.

My favorite variation is cranberries, and 2 or 3 T of Jack Daniels added to nuts and sugar. Let flavors marry for a few hours or overnight, then assemble.
