Shouldn't the fact that you're told to "skim batter pieces from oil between batches" be an indicator that these aren't going to work all that well? These sound positively REVOLTING. I wouldn't make or eat them on a bet.

Why in god's name would anyone make this? You could plainly see that the oatmeal was going to be repulsive. Why not make a real crumble topping with rolled oats, sugar, and melted butter? Oh wait, that's real food--I forgot that Sandra Lee doesn't cook real food. She assembles chemicals.

Where's the "homemade" part? I thought it was supposed to be 70% fresh, 30% packaged ingredients. This looks 100% packaged to me.

I made this but I changed it a little. I put the dried fruit in the pan on the stove, drank the port while eating the almonds, and left the ice cream on the counter to soften. When I had finished with the port, the fruit was burned and the ice cream was liquid, but it didn't really matter. Outstanding!
