That's kind of the opposite of what Alton Brown said in this episode. Baking soda = less acid, less acid = higher set temperature, increased baking soda should provide a thinner cookie. Check out the episode three chips for sister marsha, it's available on youtube and various other places online. There's even a transcript on someone's website.

The best pecan pie I've ever had was at a BBQ restaurant called Percy Street in Philadelphia. This was tasty but nowhere near the best. As another reviewer said, these are essentially the same as Red Lobster's cheddar biscuits. For a kick substitute some beer for the water, a nice malty lager would do nicely. ""
