Reviewed Veggie Cobbler

Jul 31, 2013 in null on Food.com

I got this recipe directly out of the issue of Family Fun, and I';ve made it at least a dozen times. It';s great whether you follow the recipe or switch it up, and it feeds a crowd. Sometimes I add chicken to it. I often use all fresh or all frozen veggies, depending on what I can find in Spain, where I live. My only important change is to...

Reviewed Peaches with Balsamic Cherries

Jul 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is the second time I've made this, although I use nectarines because they are more readily available where I live. I ate it with ice cream today, and it was a nice combination. On its own, particularly when warm, I find a miss a crust of some sort."

Reviewed Microwave Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Feb 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This one is kind of bland. I was hoping for delicious from the reviews, but it's edible. I doubled the cinnamon and almost doubled the maple syrup, and still didn't find that it had much flavour. I did use a Granny Smith apple, though, so maybe the sweetness that's missing is from not using a Mac. It was notably better after adding a little milk ...

Just made these again and it's worth mentioning that they are equally good if not slightly more flavourful with beef broth instead of chicken broth.""

These are great! Increase the proportion of sprouts to the rest though. I used 15 small ones and I should have used more. Just add a little more broth near the end. To increase the bacon-y flavour, I rendered the fat and then set aside the bacon before melting the butter in the same skillet.""

Sep 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for dinner tonight using "limanda" (which I THINK is flounder in Spanish. Fish translations are tricky!), and it got a 9 of 10. I had to use dried herbs for the dredge. Next time I'll use less, but the fish had a really nice flavor. The last piece I cooked about 3.5-4 minutes on each side, and I'll do it that way next time. The salad...

Reviewed Coconut Flan

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for a coconut-loving friend's birthday. I followed the recipe, but I only had dried coconut, so I found a substitute online. The result was good even to me, and I don't like flan OR coconut AT ALL! This was a little sweet though, even without the coconut milk. I can't imagine how sweet it would have been with both the condensed and coconut...

Reviewed Bobby's Baked Tilapia

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I like that the lime doesn't really mask the taste of the fish. My partner had never tried tilapia, and I wanted her to serve it to her not just plain but not really herby or strong-flavoured. This dish is nice and light (although I'd probably use less than a pat of butter per fillet next time), but I don't love the limey flavour. She said it had...

It is OHMYGOD delicious. Seriously, I could make this every week and never get tired of it. I DID sub a bit of broth for the water this time (it's the 2nd) as another reviewer suggests, and I do make a sofrito before I had the ham, then take it out and brown the ham a bit, then put the sofrito back in to cook like the recipe suggests. I cannot stop...

These are interesting. I was concerned that with all the sugar AND the Nutella they'd be too sweet, but they're not, and the salt is just noticeable. I used Nocilla brand hazelnut spread-half hazelnut-half condensed milk-so my final result was probably not as full-flavoured as it would have been with plain Nutella. I'm not a huge Nutella fan, and...

This is one of those, "Duh! Why didn't I think of that?!" recipes. It's really delicious and SO simple. Just make sure your asparagus are nice and fresh; on the contrary they turn out disappointly tough. They're perfect with just the salt and pepper, but a little rosemary is a nice touch depending on what you'll serve them with.
