My Activity

Reviewed Antipasti Platter

"Someone postng the other day said that when her mother gives out a recipe, she always omits one ingredient so that diners say hers is better. I find that mean and deceitful. I handle the situation by telling the recipient of my recipe to make it, enjoy it, and tell people she got it from me. I find this is a really satisfying way to share my r"

Reviewed Fantastic Taco Casserole

"I make a dish somewhat like this, but I add chopped or sliced cabbage and serve it over pasta. I's wonderful.....happens to be my son-in-laws favorite recipe. Bless him."

Reviewed Poached Eggs, Tasso Ham, Griddle Tomato and Cajun Hollandaise with English Muffins

"It was great! However, if you're short on time or energy, use Hollandaise Sauce from packets and add the spicy stuff ie: chile power, onion powder, cayenne, etc. to the sauce. It's quick and very tasty. Also, the packages can be found in Bernaise Sauce that is wonderful over Salmon, steak or actually anything. As Mikey would say, "Try it. You'"

Reviewed No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

"This reminds me of Miss Lacey, the elderly cooking teacher who taught at a junior high school when living in Glendale, CA. I hauled that recipe around for years, but sometime in the last 55 years, misplaced it. Over the years, I've found a kajillion recipes for chocolate chip oatmeal, but finally have found the one I had been looking for. Thank ..."

Reviewed Virgin Daiquiri

"I make Margarita Mocktails. It consists of salt on the rim of a glass, ice cubes and Margarita Mix (not the kind with liquor in it.) The mocktail tastes surprisingly like a full blown Margarita."

New Topic Need help ! in Cooking Q & A

"Help! I now live in an independent facility and barely have a galley kitchen.....no stove, no oven. So, I purchased a Breville oven that's supposed to bake, broil, re-heat, stuff like that. I also purchased an induction stove-top appliance with a large pan. However, I need recipes! When I lived at home, I was quite a good cook. Now, I'm at a..."

Reviewed Baked Beans

"Call this cheating if you must. However, I always get raves about my baked beans. Chop one onion (whatever size depending on how much you like onion although there's not a heavy onion taste.) Chop about 1/2 pound of bacon in pretty good size chunks. Saute together. Add one can of B&M Baked Beans and mix all together in a casserole dish. Pop i..."

Reviewed Open Faced Cucumber Sandwiches

"Please excuse the typos in my last posting. The words I meant to use were fancy (not fandy) and English (not Englkish.) Some days even my fingers won't cooperate with me."

About Me

I'm a senior citizen who recently moved into an independent living facility.  I sure miss my old home of forty years where I raised my family; however, we must do what we have to do.  I live in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment (one bathroom is for my cat) and am surrounded by a really nice group of people.  We need to treat the elderly with more compassion.  I've never seen a more talented accomplished group.  They don't brag about themselves, but if you ask, you find out how accomplished they are.
