Reviewed beer-braised chicken

7 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

This was very yummy. I only used 4 center cut bacon strips, 6 boneless thighs, and added a few carrots chopped up, and used about half a large Vidalia onion sliced up. Used a good old Miller Lite beer, and light brown sugar. I thickened the sauce at the end with 2 tbsp softened butter mixed with 2 tbsp flour. I will certainly make this again....

As a favorite Food Network Star would say - Yum-O! This will definitely be on my menu this summer. Great combination of flavors, colors and textures. Cooked these on the grill and they were excellent. I'll say it again - Yum-O!"

This exact same recipe is also on Foodnetwork as Turkey Tetrazzini. I have used this recipe with tuna - and it was the best tuna casserole I ever had. Tonite I used leftover Christmas Eve ham... and it was delicious! I julienned about 5 slices of ham to get 2+ cups of ham. Used whole milk instead of heavy cream, and topped with fresh bread cru"

Excellent method for cooking brown rice. Also works perfectly with blends like the RiceSelect brown and wild rice blend. Try this!"

Yum. Great recipe. Appetites differ... but this was plenty for the two of us plus enough for another meal for 2 (to the comment re: feeding 4 people). I used 2 boneless chicken thighs and a can of diced tomatoes instead of fresh - let the juice reduce a bit before adding the chicken broth. I also mis-read the recipe and added 5 cups of chicken"

Reviewed Guy Fieri's Tequila-Lime Wings

Sep 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These wings are wonderful. A big hit with our guests. I borrowed from another of Guy's wing recipes, and brined the wings for about 90 minutes (did not have enough time to brine for hours; added 1/4 cup brown sugar to the brine which included salt, black peppercorns and garlic). I wanted to double the marinade per other reviews, but did not ha...

Reviewed Shrimp Florentine over Tomato Grits

Sep 5, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was excellent. I did not worry about the garlic cheese roll, and made a few slight variations to the grits with great results. I switched the liquid ingredients around - using 2 cups whole milk and 3/4 cup water to cook the grits. Used only 1/2 stick of butter in the grits, and 2 cups of shredded cheddar. The grits came out creamy and de...

Reviewed Green Tomato Pickles

Aug 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I followed the recipe exactly. After reading the recipe I did not anticipate 'pickles'... the recipe should really be renamed. The end product is a sweet, spicy (in the cinnamon sense) chutney like condiment. It is very thick, and very dark caramel colored. It was tasty enough on grilled pork tenderloin. If however you are anticipating somet...
