Reviewed Broccoli Salad

Jun 19, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this salad as a side dish on Father's Day and everyone loved it. My only variation was that I did not have sliced almonds. I added toasted seasame seeds and that worked with the other flavors very well. I even love the leftovers which make a nice light lunch. I know I will make this salad often."

Reviewed Deconstructed Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich

Aug 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My husband and I have never been fans of eggplant. We joined a CSA this year and so I found myself with two eggplants and in need of a recipe. I watched Jeff make this dish last Saturday and decided to give it a try. My husband was reluctant, but agreed to try it.

It is delicious! We both loved it. My husband said the pickled...

I really loved the tip about the vinegar and tossing the potatoes with the vinegar while they were hot. My only tweak to the recipe was to use Dijon mustard instead of whole grain, otherwise I made it exactly as written. It was delicious! Love your show, Jeff!"

May 17, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe was delicious. I had roasted some garlic a few days ago, so I modified the recipe slightly. I did not use 1/4 olive oil to saute the garlic. I simply whisked a tablespoon of my roasted garlic into the wine with the herbs. I also whisked in a tablespoon of dijon mustard. I did brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and took Ina's"

Omitted the rutabaga and added a can of stout beer to the cooking liquid. This was outstanding and soooooo easy to make. We made this for a birthday celebration and everyone raved about how wonderful it was. I'll probably make this often! Thank you Food Network Kitchens!""

Reviewed 10 Minute Apple Sauce

Nov 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Amazing! I can't believe how good this is for so little effort. My 4 year old grandson won't eat many healthy things, but he loves applesauce. I am so glad I found this recipe so I can make it fresh when he comes to visit. Love you Alton!""

Reviewed Sawmill Gravy

Oct 27, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I followed this recipe exactly except I added quite a bit of black pepper, garlic powder, and salt. I guess my sausage was a bit under-seasoned and that's why I needed the extra seasoning. I made homemade biscuits to go with it and it was deeeeee-licious!
Thanks Alton - - - miss your show :-(""

Reviewed Butternut Squash Soup

Oct 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was the first time I have made butternut squash soup - - - and it won't be the last! This recipe was so simple (only made the soup, not the salsa). I substituted a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes because I didn't have a jalepeno pepper, and left out the heavy cream. It was sooooooo delicious! Perfect for a fall dinner. Next time I...

Reviewed Peach Cobbler

Aug 18, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe was amazing. I used 1/3 cup brown sugar (instead of 1 cup white sugar) when cooking the peaches and also added 1 tsp of vanilla. This was my first time making a peach cobbler and it turned out wonderful. I used fresh farm stand peaches (5) that I peeled after blanching for one minute in boiling water. It's incredible and easy to ma...

I made the wings tonight and have finally found a recipe that makes the wings crispy enough for my husband. I didn't make the sauces, but want to try them in the future. I added lemon-pepper seasoning to the flour/corn starch mix. It was deeeeeee-licious!"

Reviewed Crab Cakes

Apr 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My husband and I loved these crab cakes - - - and I have been making crab cakes for 37 years, but wanted to try something new. The Ritz crackers are the special ingredient in my opinion. I use red bell pepper, honey mustard (instead of the dry), and Old Bay instead of the cayenne. I also bake instead of dredge and fry. Just brush with a little...

Ina I love your show and wish it aired in the evening since I work during the day. My husband made this lasagna for us last night.
