The recipe as written was a bit dull (sorry Alton).. but using real butter (I used 2 tablespoons melted) makes a huge difference. Also, instead of powdered milk, try the powdered BUTTERMILK you can buy in any grocery. Much more flavorful! I don't use rings, cutters or scoops. After the dough has risen, I pat it out slightly (about 1" thick) on...

Replied to Chicken Stock

Dec 15, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I agree with you 110 percent Tansysmom. When Ina made this on her show, she discarded the chicken. The only thing I can think is she must think everyone has her kind of money. If her excuse is that they are simmered too long, all one has to do is debone the chicken after its cooked and return the bones to the pot to continue cooking. All the...

Replied to Good Eats Roast Turkey

Dec 1, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

aceworkman- That's a good idea! Not only for clean up like you mentioned, but my only problem was how the rack slides like a greased pig every time you move it for any reason. Super easy way to get minor oven burns! Next time I make this recipe, I'm adding foil like you mentioned & will crumple it a bit to give the rack some stability! Thanks...

Juicy and moist with a beautifully crisp, flavorful, perfectly colored skin! A word of caution though: Because the roasting rack isn't made to fit a half-sheet pan like a roasting pan... and because there will be delicious (but slippery) juices that develop under the bird... when moving the half-sheet in & out of the oven for any reason - BE...

These are ROCKING GOOD molasses cookies! I read in one review that they weren't "gingery" enough and I'm wondering if they used stale ginger? The spices and amount of molasses in them are just right! I made a double-batch and made ice cream sandwiches with 12 of the larger cookies (making 6 ice cream sandwiches total) with homemade pumpkin ice...

Kudos to those who suggested using unsalted butter instead of shortening. =Wow= flakey, flavorful & fabulous! By the way, I didn't have buttermilk on-hand, but did have a can of the dried buttermilk powder in the canister they sell for cooking & baking. I made up one cup of it (instead of 3/4 like some suggested) and wound up using most. This "

Oh, yum! I also ordered a malt powder that I bought online - (I read that a lot of pretzel makers love the flavor in their pretzels). I used 2 tabl"

Ok guys. I agree with everyone here who said this was such an awesome summertime recipe.. but hey- this lemony-delight is good ANY time of the year! :D On my first pie, I wound up making the homemade crust. While it tastes great- for this particular pie, I found the store-bought is much thinner/uniform and therefore easier to cut. If I "

If you love lemony, sweet/tart, creamy, cold treats.. you're going to love this! It's a keeper!!! Can't wait to make a lime pie next time ~~ :0)"

Very quick, easy and best of all... delicious! Only addition I made was to caramelize some sweet minced onions and about 8 diced fresh mushrooms in the pan before continuing on with your sauce recipe. Just proves how simple it is to change up the sauce to whatever the person cooking it may want~ :0) Thank you so much for another yummy recipe!!"
