Reviewed Cheddar Cheese Baked Potato Soup
"I made this for my poor little wife who is sick with the flu. She wanted me to go to Chili's and get her some potato soup. I told her I could beat that and got a roll of the eyes. Now she thinks I'm some kind of a shaman with magical powers. I used two big russets, 1/2 lb of Wright Brand Bacon, a whole box of Emeril's chicken stock. I added a can of cream of chicken soup, chopped chives and some seasoning, kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper and garlic powder. She's resting comfortably now. Thanks Sandra.
Reviewed Good Eats Roast Turkey
"All ye who search for roast turkey perfection, stop your quest here. Our house is ground zero for Thanksgiving every year. I cook two birds, sometimes I deep fry one, sometimes I smoke one. But I always roast the big one (14 to 16 lbs) like this. Your friends and family will still be talking about it come Independence Day. Which, by the way, is not a bad time for roast turkey.
Reviewed Sweet Potato Pie
"Alton's show is my favorite. I've learned a lot from him. I made this pie exactly like the recipe...except I used a can of evaporated milk instead of the yogurt and I substituted 1 cup of light brown sugar for the 3/4 cup of dark brown sugar. I also used 1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice with just a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon. I left off the nuts and the syrup and topped the pie with whipped cream. Other than that I followed the recipe to a T. It turned out great. I made one for my 4 man crew at work and it didn't last until the end of the first coffee break. (Okay, I was being a bit facetious, but Alton's sweet potato show got me on this pie kick and most of the other reviewers made changes too.)
