However, the onions did not come out very well, they were really gross. So we made better ones by dipping them in flour, eggs and frying them. After baking in the oven they were very crunchy!

"Great Recipe! Like others I made a few adjustments: I added juice from one mandarin orange and sweet tea vodka because I forgot to buy bourbon and I only used 2 1/3 cups water. It was absolutely delicious and I will make it every thanksgiving. If the sauce seems too watery just keep boiling it, and it also thickens up once you put it in the oven with the yams.
