My Activity

Reviewed Sweet Corn and Chicken Soup

"The flavor of this soup was very gingery--I would have liked more savory notes. I did use bullion cubes--vegetable broth ones--but I should have added salt. We went heavy on the soy at the table. I swear when I was watching this episode that she didn't make a ginger-garlic paste--she just put chopped fresh ginger into the soup. I see now that the recipe ingredients have been changed, but the recipe still calls for the paste. Anyway, I like the idea of this recipe, but will have to play with the flavors.

Reviewed Hoisin Ham 'n' Cheese

"I liked the concept of this sandwich--the sweet heat--but all we tasted was hoisin sauce! I think next time I will use the hoisin as a light spread, more cheese, and no sesame oil. The cilantro was a nice bright taste. I probably should have read the reviews before I embarked on this, as it seems many people have the same ideas as I do!

Reviewed Maple Sweet Potato Puree with Caramelized Onions

"I loved this recipe! Silky texture and rich flavor. The onions were an added bonus! I cooked them for close to 20 minutes. I halved the sweet potato part since there are just two of us, but I made the whole batch of onions. Even though he loved the onions, BF thought the mash was too rich for him, so I got them all to myself!!

Reviewed Crispy Brussels Sprouts

"I did not add the apple or nuts, but loved the crispy leaves of the brussels sprouts. Bacon was a great little topper!

Reviewed Buttermilk Pecan Chicken

"Chicken is so moist & tender from soaking in the buttermilk. It was a bit greasy, but that may just be my inept frying. I will try to bake them next time.
