"Just a reminder that any candy is very difficult to make properly when the humidity is high. I never make candy on a hot humid day or on a rainy day. The sugar absorbs too much moisture from the air resulting in a gooey product."

"fetch-fenway - You need to check the temp of your oven with a thermometer. I did this and found my oven was off by 15 degrees. Makes a big difference.
Grandma W - that's what happens when you overmix a cake.

Reviewed Shepherd's Pie

"Finally, a shepherd's pie with lamb! Why would a shepherd have beef? If it's made with beef, it's a COTTAGE pie. This is a fabulous version. I used finely minced leftover roast lamb. The original reason to shepherd's pie was to use up the leftovers from Sunday dinner. And if you have leftover mashed potatoes, you can use them too.
