Same thing happened to me! I pre-baked the crust for a long time, but maybe it was too thin - we had a river of custard dripping in the oven. Fortunately I put some foil and a cookie sheet below, just in case . . . - and, it was delicious! I caramelized an onion in the bacon fat and added that to the wet mix.

Great, forgiving recipe: I only had 1 & 1/3 stick of butter, so I used that. And buttermilk not regular. Pam'd the casserole. Left out the sugar by accident, no problem.
