Reviewed Apple Crumble with Cardamom-Vanilla Caramel Sauce

"I made this today and we loved the crunchy, chewy topping. I agree with some, that the apples were a bit tart - add additional sugar would perhaps help. Had to make the sauce two times - both times it failed. Dribbled some on top anyway. The sauce seized up on me when I added the butter AND the cream at the same time - dumped the pan out. The 2nd try, I added the butter and stirred, THEN added the cream, but the sauce never thickened even following the recipe step by step. Who knows. Still a very yummy dessert.
