Reviewed lasagna with turkey sausage

Oct 8, 2014 on

Family favorite lasagna. I have come to realize that Ina likes her food saltier than I prefer, so I have omitted the salt altogether in this recipe and I still think it is salty enough. I use a blend of half sweet/half hot turkey sausage which gives it a nice taste. I cut down on the mozzarella to 8 oz, Don't leave out the goat cheese!

Delicious! Don't skip the garlic bruschetta, it really rounds out the meal. Be careful with the salt though. I used homemade stock (made without salt) and only added the 1 Tablespoon mentioned early in the process. Didn't need the extra teaspoon or so she suggested to finish it.

These cookies are delicious! After reading the review, I made a few changes. I used only 2 sticks of butter and reduced the sugar to 1.5 cups. I also made them smaller (got 5 dozen). I baked them for 8 minutes and they came out perfect and they didn't crumble. The only other change I will make next time is to reduce the white chips to no more...

My family really enjoyed this soup and it will be become part of our soup rotation. I made a few modifications to suit our tastes, but otherwise followed the recipe. First, I added an extra clove of garlic and a bit of chopped onion to the meatball mixture. Then I baked the meatballs instead of frying. I sauteed the vegetables in olive oil since...

Delicious! I didn't have a rotisserie chicken, so I browned some chicken tenders. I used 3 cans of white beans, but pureed one to help thicken it. I also added a flour and water slurry, but it still wasn't thick enough. I then added 1 T cornstarch mixed with a little water and simmered a bit. This did thicken it, but it still wasn't quite as...

Reviewed Beef Stew with Root Vegetables

Wonderful stew! I planned to serve it with the cheesy grits that Ree made on the show, but I couldn't find course grits so I substituted polenta. My family ate the whole thing. The only thing I did differently is I reduced the amount of meat and increased the vegetables and included peas. I also added a fresh rosemary sprig and a couple of sprigs...

I couldn't find course grits so I substituted polenta. It still turned out delicious!

Reviewed Basic Pepperoni Pizza and Four Cheese Pizza

Oct 10, 2013 on

Added Fontina and Parmesan cheese to the pepperoni pizza (and pineapple). Kids loved it! I didn't have time to make the tomato basil salad for the four-cheese pizza, so I added kalameta olives before I put it in the oven and sun-dried tomatoes after. Really good. I have never created a "pretty" pizza, so I loved free-form style of Pioneer Woman's...

Yummy. Doesn't need as much salt as is called for, cut by half and taste. Cut oil too, used 3/4 cup. Simple to make and very tasty."
