My Activity

Reviewed Cocoa Brownies

"Update: We let these cool overnight and they were much, much better.
My wife called these the $10 brownies. Not because that's what they tasted like, but because that's what they would have cost. All that cocoa, butter, and sugar. I doubled the recipe the first time I made them. I'm not sure why, since each time I've tried one of Alton's recipes (I think this is the third they haven't turned out as I expected.
All right, I may have forgotten the salt this time, but I can't remember. Everything else was as called for on the recipe. Very, very sweet. Too greasy from the overload of butter and I could feel, literally feel my heart rate go up as I ate one of them.
I'm going to have to be more careful when I make Mr. Brown's food in the future. I still love your show, as my 3 yr old daughter does. "Mr. Brown" trumps even Dora in her viewing preferences."

The flavor was good, but I wonder if I were to eliminate some of the sugar and oil and make sure the salt was there they would turn out better.
