Reviewed Seafood Chowder

Jan 12, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This soup is wonderful. More of a bisque than a chowder. I made the stock and what a treat. It made the soup base very flavorful and rich, much more than a chicken stock could. I also could not find monkfish, so I used sea bass and added with 3 minutes left so as not to overlook it or have it get flakey. Make sure your potatoes and carrots are...

Reviewed Three Cheese Hot Artichoke Dip

Dec 7, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

The is an easy to please appetizer. I made half a recipe and it served 7 with crostini. I would suggest adding garlic or jalapeos or banana peppers next time as recommended by others. I used part Swiss and part Monterrey and made sure the top was a nice golden brown before serving. I will definitely make again.

Reviewed Brownie Pudding

Dec 7, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This is a very simple and yet delectable dessert. The top crust is a crusty layer to break through (like the sugar top on crime brle) and center is ooey gooey. I sprinkled with powdered sugar and served family style right at the table. The recipe makes enough to serve ten. You must have ice cream because it's so rich. My guests asked me...

Reviewed Vinaigrette For Green Salad

Dec 7, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This vinaigrette is easy and delicious. You will need about half the recipe for mixed greens for eight people. I added fresh tomatoes to spring mix, then topped with Parmesan and fresh cracked pepper for a delightful pre-pasta salad.

Reviewed Perfect Pot Roast

Oct 21, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This pot roast is very easy and delicious. I like the suggestion to make the potatoes on the side versus putting them in with the roast like most recipes. This made my favorite dish even better.

Reviewed The Ultimate Barbecued Ribs

Oct 17, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

These are very easy to make. I did have to bake them about 3 hours to get fall off the bone experience. The sauce is very complex and wonderful. I added some liquid smoke and cayenne pepper to suit my taste. It was very sweet, so I added a bit more vinegar. The sauce is thick, unlike your typical BBQ sauce. You can easily thin this out with...

Reviewed Roasted Tomato Soup

Oct 8, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This soup is easy and very good. It captures the essence of the tomato. I did not add the basil and kept the seeds and skins in as called for. Soup had great flavor and the texture was authentic to a homemade soup, versus a canned or pre made thin version. Love it!

Reviewed Country Blueberry Pie

Sep 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was the first time making blueberry pie and it was easy and turned out great. Following other reviews, I used 4 cups of blueberries and increased the cornstarch to 3 tablespoons. If you heat the cornstarch mixture until it boils, it will turn really thick like pudding. Also, make sure the pie is completely cooled before serving. This took"

Reviewed Caprese Salad

Aug 11, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The balsamic reduction makes this Caprese better than any other. I also used the extra on grilled steak- fantastic. Thanks Ree, this is now my newest secret ingredient to be used over and over in so many dishes."

Reviewed Grilled Salmon with Citrus Salsa Verde

Aug 1, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a nice topper for salmon, but had too much parsley for my liking. I will only use 1/2 the amount next time. The mint is a surprising complement to the citrus. We didn't have agave and use honey instead and I also added a bit of honey to the salsa to mellow out the bitterness from the lemon juice. Very good overall."

Reviewed Grilled Corn on the Cob

Jul 14, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a very easy way to grill corn. I will be using this method from now on. Very easy to manage with other items on the grill."

Reviewed Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Mar 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These cookies are easy and awesome. I used about 2/3 cup of sugar, as my PB had sugar already in it. Also, the video says to add a pinch of salt and uses parchment paper. I would suggest cooking a bit longer than 10 min to get more crispy edges. Nummy! "

Reviewed Sausage-Bean Soup

Jan 27, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This soup is very easy and quick. I used chopped kale and one pound of hot Italian sausage. Like other reviewers, I used 8 cups of broth and 2 cans of beans to thin out the soup. I also used pecorino Romano rind. If your looking for a lighter sausage soup recipe, this is it. will definitely make again. "

Reviewed Pat's Famous Beef and Pork Chili

Dec 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is more of a southwest chili style with the chipotle flavor and black beans. It took a lot of salt (2 tsp) to bring out the rich layers of flavor. It is not spicy at all, so I added cayenne pepper as well as liquid smoke suggested by other reviewers. Then it was good to go. I made this with the Neely's honey cornbread muffins and i"

Reviewed Honey Cornbread Muffins

Dec 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is very easy and the results are awesome. The texture is that of real cornbread and not a cake mix. Fluffy and moist with a crunchy top. The flavor was spot on, slightly sweet. This is my go to recipe for cornbread, no more store bought."

Reviewed Lemon Bars

Jul 15, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These bars have great flavor, but I prefer an even ratio of buttery crust to lemon filling. These are 1/4 crust and 3/4 filling. The tartness or sweetness concerns from other reviews comes down to the lemons used and personal preference. Which is really hard to gauge until after they are done."

Reviewed Outrageous Brownies

Jul 8, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have been making these brownies for several years now and they are absolutely awesome. They have a great chewiness, deep chocolate flavor, and crunchy top. They also keep for about a week in the refrigerator and will make 48 normal size brownies. "

Reviewed Lemon Tea Cake

Apr 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This cake is easy to make and tastes great. The cake is on the dense side. The batter is very thick, so you will need to spread it in your pan, not pour as indicated in the recipe. Previous reviews indicated a dry tough cake, I would suggest baking in a ceramic pan and do not over mix. I like the idea of adding sour cream as noted by another...

Reviewed Pork Carnitas

Mar 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is easy and very good. If you like heat definitely add more jalapenos or chipotles in adobo sauce. We serve this with tomatillo sauce which really compliments the pork and did not sear prior to serving. The pork is also great in a taco with Monterrey jack cheese. ""
