Reviewed grilled chicken with spinach and pine nut pesto

Jul 28, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I didn't make the chicken, but did try the pesto. I thought it had too much lemon and that the spinach isn't flavorful enough (like basil) to cover the flavor of the olive oil. So, to me it just tasted like lemon and olive oil. Not good. I'm a huge pesto fan and was excited to try this. I'll stick to my classic basil and pine nut pesto.

WAY too much lemon. Cut everything lemon in half."

I thought it was good...but I added a couple of things to give it more dimension. I threw in some sliced olives and parmesan cheese. The dressing was nice, light, and not overly oily. I loved the idea of using tortellini in a pasta salad. However, a 13 minute prep time is a little optimistic with all the chopping, zesting, etc."

I have loved every single one of Alton's recipes...except this one. I thought the flavors were bland and the entire thing was just too mushy. Followed everything exactly. "

Loved this chicken. Pairs perfect with a rice pilaf and asparagus. "

YUM! So good. Moist and dense, just as banana bread should be. I skipped the pecans, and next time I will add only one stick of butter. I thought it was just a bit too greasy and butter-tasting. But delicious nonetheless!"

The absolute best chocolate chip cookies. I'm happy to have finally found the perfect recipe! Be sure your cookie sheet is nice and cold before placing the dough or the cookies will turn flat quickly due to the high amount of butter. Delicious! Thanks Alton!"
